Reviews of Ysgubor Celyn Megan's

"This immaculate, spacious, cozy, comfortable accommodation, in the heart of the beautiful Ceiriog Valley, could not have been better thought out. There is absolutely everything you could need for a family get together of 8 (takes 10) and everyone really appreciated the planning you have put into it. Delightfully furnished and comfy beds. We loved all the outside seating spots you have dotted around for a leisurely brunch or a few sherbets early evening and as the pub is just 55 seconds walk away that was a bonus! Situated for pleasant drives to Chirk Castle, Llangollen, Snowdonia or the Harlech coast. Davina, your Housekeeper, does an amazing job - it is spotless. We will be returning for sure. Jackie"

"Our family had an amazing weekend! This cottage is 5 star plus, it is well furnished, very well equipped, exceptionally clean, spacious, well laid out, homely and secure big gardens. The views are stunning - put the log burner on (a basket of logs are supplied for each log burner) and look at the landscape, wake up in the morning to the sheep and the horses in the next field. There is lots of information about places to visit as well as a manual on how all the equipment works in the cottage. The owners have thought of everything to make your holiday perfect. Another plus is the pub right next door that has fantastic food. We are so looking forward to booking this cottage in the very near future. Highly recommended!"

"We rented Ysgubor Celyn Megan for a long weekend to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday. What made me select it was the bedroom layout, being perfect for 4 couples and one child. On arrival everything was very clean and the space available is impressive. One thing noted by us all as we arrived was the lack of coat hooks in the hall, we later discovered some in the cubby hole in the kitchen, but really for a large group who are potentially likely to go out walking etc given the location, a nice spaced row of hooks to hang coats in the hall would be ideal. The kitchen and utility provide a large useful and sociable area. The range cooker was a bit slow, the large fan oven did not heat up brilliantly on the first evening it simply would not heat about about 150, the next day it seemed better, we managed! Overall the place is very well supplied with crocks, pots and pans etc. The underfloor heating is very efficient. The bedrooms were nicely presented with good quality linen, the upstairs rooms are compact but make good use of the space that is available, the upstairs bathroom feels a little cramped in but again, it makes efficient use of the space there is. Stair gates are already in place which is most useful! The downstairs en suite room was very nice, there is also a lovely shower room on the ground floor, adjacent to the family room, which is particularly nice I thought. Beds were in general found to be a bit too much on the soft side,in the smaller upstairs room bed the springs in the mattress were easily felt, maybe remedied by a good mattress topper? Beds are very individual so we appreciated you can not please everybody! Seating is available in the conservatory, nice for a quiet rest with a cup of tea and then the main sitting room, lovely high ceiling, rug and woodburner but unfortunately we all found the sofas rather uncomfortable and tired feeling, saggy middles! If these were updated with perhaps a quality couple of armchairs too, it would be perfect. There are fantastic walks nearby, myself and my husband went on quite a good hike on the saturday, hills are very steep but paths are all well marked and we found ourselves around a fantastic if a little challenging circular walk in a few hours. It is a great base for a family occasion, the garden is well fenced and nicely lawned, parking area is very substantial, views are lovely on all sides and it is not too far from local towns. The pub is right next to it and was very pleasant for a drink before dinner and the local shop is well stocked. Wifi is present but has a fairly poor range (works best if you are in the kitchen) Main TV is in the sitting room, one in the en suite bedroom downstairs and one in the nicer upstairs room. For our group we would have preferred small tvs in all bedrooms, but that may not bother others!"

The 3 patio areas were brilliant for us to follow the sun round the property as the day passed by. All of the facilities were really good and would certainly recommend the place to friends and family and will consider booking again for next year. The local area is beautiful; great for kids, adults and dogs with castles to explore, golf courses to play & long country walks in abundance.
