Reviews of Coed Y Gelli

"We've just returned from a week in this idyllic cottage. Everything you could wish for was provided. Very comfortable and clean too. Lovely friendly owners and stunning scenery. A bonus for me were the horses. Cost me 2 bags of carrots! By end of the week they trotted over when they saw me. If you want to explore this beautiful part of the world and need a romantic hideaway for 2 then look no further."

"The cottage was the perfect base to go off and explore the local area. The fireplace in the cottage was great for the slightly colder evenings. The stud farm was really idyllic and having the horses and foals right next to the cottage was a real highlight for a horse lover like myself. Had a really wonderful time and would certainly return for another holiday."

We were well welcomed and then simply left to crack on and explore the area ( which we certainly did). It was very economical too and I would certainly come again"

"The whole package was great from the location which is rural yet within easy reach of any number of large and small towns. The people who run the cottage were great and made us feel at home. Great to see the horses up close and the number of pheasant running wild were too many to count. We will certainly go back. "

"My partner and I have just come back from 5 relaxing days and nights from this beautiful abode. The owners Mervyn and Zoe were more than helpful with anything we needed which was mainly wood for the log burner. It was very clean and homely inside. It was very peaceful and quiet. We will definitely be making it an annual or 6 monthly trip there! Lovely sights travelling up there and around the area. Lovely views from the cottage and of the horses on site. We ate at some lovely places near by which are a 10 minute drive away. There's plenty to see and do and Cardiff is only 45 minutes away. Fantastic break, just what we needed. Thanks again for the hospitality Mervyn and Zoe."

The setting was great and the horses a joy - and only one fly made it into the property despite open doors and windows. The pot flowers around the yard were beautiful. Plenty of soft cushions for weary backs at the end of a day's walking, and radiators to dry wet clothes over. A garden just for us and sun-loungers were provided. Good roads for travel to Wye Valley & Forest of Dean as well as the Brecon Beacons."

Only about 6 miles from Abergavenny and lots of attractions like Raglan Castle and the Brecon Beacons this place is very well situated. Abergavenny is a lovely town and only 35 miles from Cardiff. The cottage is located on a horse stud farm where Zoe and Mervin run around 40 thoroughbred horses. The cottage is spacious and is very well equipped. The only thing I would suggest to make it absolutely perfect would be WiFi. Thoroughly recommended."

"We booked and paid via an agent well in advance. We tried repeatedly to contact the owner as required and notified the agent before leaving France that we could not contact her. We left another local holiday rental which was great and arrived to find this was just not as advertised in our view. This holiday cottage does not seem to us reasonable, safe, to meet fire and health standards. The setting would be good only noise from owners including their 4 dogs night and day, banging doors etc. Lack of privacy. Poor cleanliness inside and out. Dampness. 13.5 tog duvet in a heat wave. Toilet and shower room directly off dining room / kitchen / sitting room. Further from Abergavenny / a shop by miles than advertised. Woken up from 7.15am by the owner who seems to have no consideration or idea. No phone signal no Wifi. We so wish we could have gone back to the other local rental which was everything this is not. 53 photos sent to agent and tourist board. See Photos."
