Reviews of Buzzard Cottage

"We decided that we wanted to get away from all the stress of New Year so headed to this lovely cottage as other reviewers have stated it had everything you needed and I mean everything.. The kitchen has every utensil that you could possible want, decent dvds and a great selection of books. This was the cleanest cottage I have ever stayed in you must no that feeling when you have to wash a plate or glass before you use it well everything at Buzzard was immaculate I only marked down as the bed was sooo uncomfortable I couldn't sleep in it properly if you want a beautiful location with fantastic walks on your doorstep then book this cottage I would of re-booked it there and then if it wasn't for the bed situation. "The cottage was situated in a quiet and tranquil position. The off road parking was good. The enclosed garden was great for my dog so I could let him out without keeping an eye on him . The traffic on the single track roads around was practically non existent so great for taking the dog for a walk. Views from these roads were fantastic. The view from the table and chairs in the garden was great. Would definitely come again."

The kitchen held an abundance of crockery, cutlery and glasses, plenty of cookware. The views are magnificent. There is a wealth of books, games and leaflets to help plan days out, we will certainly be back. "

"The location of the cottage was peaceful and relaxing an ideal base for travelling around Wales. The cottage had everything you could possible need and more. It was like home-from-home even down to the simple little things being provided like kitchen foil, washing up liquid and even tea towels. The fenced garden made it safe for our dog to wonder round on her own without having to worry where she was. The area was so beautiful with fantastic views around. It was close enough to Barmouth if we wanted to travel there which we did every morning to let the dog have a run on the beach but also within easy reach to Conwy and other places that we visited whilst we were there. A really perfect holiday thank you so much we will definitely go back and stay there again."

"This cottage pretty much has everything you would expect and a little extra. We took our 2 children and the dog and everyone enjoyed themselves. The cottage is very well placed to do many things that Wales has to offer such as walking, cycling or enjoying the beaches of Barmouth or Harlech which are in easy reach. We arrived late in the evening but the owners had kindly left some lights on and the heating was on high and made the key available. There were plenty of kitchen utensils available and was not at all matching which suited us as it seemed that if anything got broken it could be replaced by ourselves with no charge (quite good as we had children and a dog with us!) Lots of books and games at our disposal such as chequers, monopoly, cards and many many more. The games were dated but the classics never get boring! About 40 DVDs to choose from to suit all tastes but unfortunately no kids ones. Everything was very clean from the bedding and large towels to the kitchen. There were tea towels, dishcloths, washing up liquid, cleaning fluids and loo rolls aplenty which isn't always the case in self catering. Stunning view from the main bedroom and all around the cottage with a small outside area to enjoy the scenery in a little warmer weather and also ideal for the dog. My only minor issue with this place is that the sofa in the lounge is pretty uncomfortable and could do with replacing but as I say this is a very minor gripe that in no way should put you off booking this wonderful home from home cottage. "The seclusion of the property and the setting of it in the mountains with amazing views, the peacefulness with no traffic noise just the sound of the cuckoo but also the fact that the nearest town was only 10 mins away in the car, a perfect holiday. Excellent walking right from the door. My highlight being able to lie in bed with the door open and looking out at the stars, no light pollution at this property."

"The owners were friendly and helpful but not too fussy so we felt nice and relaxed as we should be on holiday. They let our unruly pet lurcher play in the field with their own lurcher so there was even a holiday romance! The cottage was like a mountain cabin - truly luxurious and a great kitchen for cooking up monster meals after a day in the hills. The bedrooms were pretty, spacious and well furnished. The setting was superb - right in the midst of the wooded mountainside and from the garden you could see the peak of Cadair Idris poking above the forests - it was more like Yosemite than Wales! You could do some great walks straight from the cottage or just venturing out for a few miles in the car although it seemed like we were staying in the deepest wilderness the town of Dolgellau was just down the road for the shops and there was even a Breton onion-seller peddling his wares in the town centre when we were there. Although the weather was a bit wet we had a magnificent week - far exceeding our expectations. The only downside was the free range cattle that roamed around the cottage at night so I couldn't take the dog out for his late night walk. Also they only do Friday to Friday bookings so we missed a day of our holiday as we can't get out of work on Friday and can't generally leave home until Saturday."

"We received a friendly, warm welcome from the owner, who also lived nearby & was available if we required anything during our stay. The cottage was compact, clean with a well stocked kitchen. The location was fabulous with great views of the mountains. There were a number of interesting walks, starting right on the doorstep. The town of Dolgellau was lovely with everything we required, but a car is needed to replenish food stocks as it is quite a long, steep walk back to the cottage. We loved the views & the peaceful surroundings. If I have to find any drawbacks it is possibily that it was rather too far to walk to the pub or takeaway in the evening ! We had a lot of rain during our stay.... but even that didn't spoil our holiday..... we had a lovely time at Buzzard Cottage."

"We were very pleased to be able to take a holiday at this peaceful location, booking was easy, and on arrival we were greeted with a hospitality tray which was very welcome, and a lovely homely feel to the cottage which was to a high standard. It was nice to get to meet the owners who could advise us about the area - places to go etc. The cottage was beautifully appointed, with central heating so we were nice and warm, given the time of year. Although the cottages are surrounded by the fields and countryside, which gave us a lovely view, Dolgellau was only two miles away, so very convenient for the necessary shopping. A thoroughly enjoyable week that we would love to repeat."
