Reviews of Spruce Lodge

"Being terrible reviewers we actually stayed in October 2017 but have not long created our account. Though it must be testament to a place to still want to review it over two years on! Spruce Lodge is an absolutely beautiful cabin situated just on the edge of Blackmuir Woods in the lovely Strathpfeffer. On a car free holiday we found it extremely easy to make it from Inverness Airport to the lodge door, with only a short walk along a woodland road the most taxing part of the journey. Our greeting was extremely friendly and we immediately felt at home. We were also greeted by a sweet loaf of bread, delicious peach melba jam and a Madeira cake. All of which we have tried and failed to relive at home. They could be found at the Deli in the Square at the time and frankly we should have stocked up! The lodge itself was beautiful. Extremely cosy in style and decor, with the most comfortable sofa. All the appliances worked perfectly, we weren't short or without anything we needed and Tesco delivers so had we not wanted to leave at all we would have been all set! We got a great night's sleep every night throughout our week stay, and to wake up to birds on the feeders and a red squirrel was such a treat. The lodge is perfectly situated for many walks..as ours was a walking holiday this was handy-dandy indeed. We haven't been able to make it back yet but we wouldn't consider staying elsewhere. We talk about our stay frequently with the fondest memories."

"Gorgeous log cabin, warm & cosy, beautifully clean & pet friendly, our 2 cats loved it. Jean was so welcoming & made a fuss of the cats. The only thing missing was snow! will definately be back to explore the surroundings more. Strathpeffer is a delight."

"We stayed here for 4 nights, 2 adults and our 2 dogs. I only wish we could have stayed longer! On our arrival there was a gift of bakery goods and even a pack of treats for the dogs. The lodge itself was spacious and clean and had everything you'd need although we took along a couple of large throws to stop our dogs getting the sofas covered in hairs. The location is gorgeous, surrounded by woodland walks that our dogs loved. The owner, Jane, was super friendly and helpful. She rang a couple of times to make sure we were ok, warm enough etc. And called in for a brief visit to introduce herself. We were visiting family nearby and will definitely stay here again."

"Wow what a hidden gem this lodge is on our arrival we had a welcome pack of homemade cake biscuits and jam. The place was spotless with fresh towels and bedding what was appealing was its pet friendly for our 2 cavachons who just loved the place and walks. Its situated in woods so very peaceful and quiet at night time listening to all the wildlife and watching the deer feeding on the neighbours lawn. Only a 15 min drive to a supermarket for food and 15 min drive to Rogie falls this is a must visit absolutely stunning past of the country"

"Spruce Lodge is a very private and quiet property offering a very relaxing base for exploring what is some of the most spectacular scenery and countryside. It is near enough to local shops but far enough away from busy areas to avoid all traffic problems."

"We spent three nights at Spruce Lodge on a short break and we were really pleased. It was very clean, very well furnished and equipped and nothing broken or overly worn as we have found with other lodges - a real home from home. Everything is provided - bedding, towels, toilet rolls and Fairy liquid! Located in Blackmuir Woods, there's a real sense of peace and isolation but only minutes away from Strathpeffer. We had such a relaxing time, only our Scottish weather let us down with rain showers but we were happy to enjoy the lodge and stay in and relax. Easy to access WiFi, satellite tv and DVD player. Great point for visiting the area, Dingwall is 10 minutes away and Invernress not to far either. Also great for day trips to West Coast. The owner was lovely, really helpful and friendly and the locally made chocolate cake and toffee shortcake welcome goodies were delicious! We also liked that they allow bookings of less than a week, which many lodges don't."

A good base for exploring. The cabin was very homely and cosy at night. We would definitely use this cabin again and would be delighted to recommend this on to our friends.
