Reviews of Feagour

"We had a wonderful stay at Feagour. Peace, quiet, away from city noises. The cottage provides everything you need. (No WiFi, but 4G signal is available) Loved the decor, heated floor in the bathroom but most of all loved the wood burner!! Shops are fairly close and Loch Ness/Fort William are within driving distance as well. "

"This is a well equipped cottage though as other reviewers has pointed out wardrobe space is limited. Lovely walks nearby and beautiful surroundings. There are minimal instructions on how things work / where local amenities are - you have to work it out for yourself . The rubbish bins are actually on the the main road ( at the end of the track cross the main road and walk to the right for 50m.) Principle downsides are that there is no dishwasher ( big minus for us) and no wifi ( might be a nightmare if kids with you) . WiFi is available at the Wolftrax cafe 2 miles up the road Also bring all that you need for your stay as nearest shop ,bar basic essentials, is in Newtonmore - 40 minute round trip"

"We stayed at this cottage in February 2017 for a week. The cottage is lovely, well presented, and a great base to explore from. We had no problems finding the property, from the instructions given and checking on Google maps we found it easily. When we arrived we were really pleased, as it was spacious, well designed and bigger than it looked in the photos. We had originally booked for 2 people, and when we arrived only one of the 2 rooms was made up. We had changed our plans and had another couple with us for a night, so after looking round for some bedding and not finding any, we called the owner, and she was very friendly and directed us to the spare bedding for us to use. We could easily have been friends not a couple, so I would recommend to the owner to make both rooms up anyway. But our issue was easily resolved. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need, in fact, probably some of the stuff could be thrown away, as there was a lot of gadgets I doubt anyone uses! But it means that there was everything we needed to cook, which was great. The full height hallway in the middle of the house makes it feel very spacious, and the living room and bedrooms are lovely cosy. It was fairly bad weather for our week (not surprising being February in the Highlands!), but we had a great week exploring on our mountain bikes, and going to both the Aviemore area and Fort William area, so it was a great central location. We enjoyed coming back to a lovely warm house, hanging out wet kit up in the large porch/utility, and cosying in by the wood burner with a film. It is an amazingly quiet location, with easy access to the main road so not too isolated. At night we were amazed how dark it was with absolutely no light pollution. This is a great base for a quiet break, with loads to explore close by. "

"we arrived and entered the cottage and imediately felt at home. It was warm and cosy. It was very well equipped and comfortable. We did have a problem with the main oven, it was not working and still not fixed when we left which was a pain as we took meals with us and had to waste 3 as they could not be done in microwave.... the underfloor heating in bathroom had no instructions and the heated towel rail in bathroom did not work. We found there was no where to hang your bathrobe in the bathroom. There was also no wardrobe in bedrooms, just one small clothes rail in the main bedroom. Putting aside these issues, the cottage is amazing, so quiet and peaceful, we fed the birds and loved watching them, especially the 9 grouse that turned up twice a day, and the hooting owl at night. There is something living in the loft space and it knaws and scratches now and then, but it does not come into the house so no worries just part of being in the countryside ! All in all an amazing restful week, The Highland Folk Museum was great, so was the Highland Wildlife Park."

"We stayed here for a week in may 2016. The cottage is absolutely perfect in every way. Stunning peaceful location but not too far from civilisation. The weather was amazing while we were there so we made use of the barbecue a few times and were able to sit outside until late. There is everything you need if you plan on cooking and eating in. There are also miles of forestry tracks to explore. The only downside for us was the fact that dogs weren't allowed as it would be ideal for dog owners"

"Extremely comfortable cottage finished to a high standard and everything you would need is there apart from internet access /Wi-Fi there is none which suited us also mobile phone reception is fine. Cottage sits on its own and is very well situated in this beautiful area. There are numerous walks if wanted straight from the front door. We went for a complete chill out week and that's what we got. If you want to get away from the fast pace of the world then this is the place to go!! Would definitely recommend to anyone and would love to go back!!"

"On arrival at the Cottage we were stunned by just how beautiful this place was, I have to say the pictures on the Sykes Website simply don't do the place justice. Owner was very helpful, we had contacted her on the Thursday to discuss Key pick up and also asked if the Cottage had Sky as we were wanting to watch the Boxing on our first night, she advised it did and arranged for the pay per view boxing for us which we thought was over and above our expectations. I have nothing negative to say at all about the Cottage, it was a pleasure to return too after a day out. Kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need, Sitting Room is very comfortable and cosy with a Log Burning Fire, we didn't get to use the Fire as the weather we had was amazing, was not expecting to be sat outside in Shorts and Vests but I'm not complaining. Bathroom is all newly fitted out with a bath and separate shower and the bedrooms are both a good size with comfortable beds. Lots of Wildlife visit the property garden, lots of different Birds and if your lucky you'll get to see the Pine-marten's that visit, we left food for them each day but they will only come for it if your inside. All in all this is a fantastic Cottage amongst the most stunning scenery and for the price you pay for the week it is a Bargain. Would recommend to anyone..!!!"

"Feagour cottage is, as advertised, tucked away in a lovely secluded forest location. And that is its only problem: finding it! The owner's directions simply state turn left 3.5 miles from the a road junction: there's no helpful sign at the start of this anonymous forest access road, only those for Balfour-Beatty! Sykes helpfully give you a postcode centred on Kinlochlaggan, a few miles away and even more helpfully a grid reference for the postcode centre, not the cottage: what use is that? (And it's still incorrect on their site, despite feedback!!) For reference, the cottage is actually located at Nn571903 and smack bang on the east-west watershed. Once you track it down (only took a phone call, 30 min or so and 10 miles of extra driving...) it's a clean, cosy, quite spacious place, with a well-equipped kitchen, even if somewhat idiosyncratically. Between the heated porch/mudroom and superheated bathroom (underfloor) we found it great as a base for wintry walks on Speyside, as there was no trouble in drying our hiking gear overnight. Indeed, you can do 2 waymarked walks right from the door, one to the fascinating Pictish fort on the hill opposite and the other to an abandoned village site. For shopping we found the new Co-op in Newtonmore, 14 miles away on the route to aviemore, to be a good bet. Unsurprisingly, the little convenience store in Laggan is pricey in comparison. So in summary: best bits- warm, cosy and quiet; worst bit- finding it (but you only have to do that once!)"

"The cottage is in a secluded forest clearing away from everything else. Very peaceful, it was a real shame to have to come away. After a stressful couple of months at work it was just what the doctor ordered. There are some really nice hill walks right on the door step too and the mountain bike adventure park a mile ot two up the road. I would be wary of the village shop which is a couple of miles away by the bridge, as I think they have "special" pricing for tourists..."
