Reviews of Suidhe Cottage

"This cottage nestles in a quiet spot in the village with some beautiful walks on the doorstep. We were made most welcome by our hosts and all those within the community we met. An excellent place to see some of the highlands and well worth every minute of the trip. Highly recommend for a relaxing week away."

"This was our second trip to this wonderful not so little cottage. From the second you arrive you just know how relaxing it is going to be. The hosts are amazing. They are there to help if you wish and keep a cool distance if you dont. We cannot recommend this property enough. We would give the accommodation, location and owners a full 10 out of 10. Its so quaint and lovely even the dog looks forward to arriving. Thankyou Wendy and Mike."

"Very peaceful, warm clean cottage, perfect for relaxing break, enclosed garden dog friendly house. Hot tub brilliant, especially at night after busy day, then chill in front of log fire. Lots to do within driving distance, walks nearby, would definitely love to go back, winter here would be perfect in snow.... definitely recommend for a peaceful retreat from life...no telephone ringing"

"I was impressed with the cottage on arrival. It's set back from the road in the garden of a large house. We were lucky as we had the large garden to ourselves as their was no one staying in the main house that week. The garden is secure which was great for the dogs and they loved the freedom to run around. The outdoor hot tub is amazing, so lovely and warm and great after a long days walk. I also liked the wood burner each evening. There is a really nice walk at the back of the property to Loch Insh and plenty of great walks only a short drive away. The owners of the property were very friendly and we were made to feel welcome in the bar. I only gave 4 stars as a few things let it down. The property doesn't have a freezer, but it is possible to get ice from the bar on an evening. There was only 1 bin bag and 1 toilet roll for the week and kindling for the first night for the fire (plenty of logs were provided) I think this let it down a bit, as I've stayed in establishments which provide enough for the week. The cottage also needs a little TLC. The toilet handle was a bit of an issue, there was a bulb out in the kitchen, the light in the hot tub didn't work, the tv in the bedroom hadn't been wired up yet for sky so no signal and the filter coffee machine didn't work. The front door was also very stiff and difficult to lock. We had a perfectly lovely time and I would recommend it, but it would be great to see these little issues sorted. All in all it was a very enjoyable holiday and a great location."

"Loved it. Peace quiet. Dog friendly and I mean dog friendly especially the bar. Lovey couple running the lodge couldn't do enough to hep. Bar at the end of the garden. No phones or Internet to annoy you. Wood fire in the evenings. Pretty much 30 miles from anywhere you want or need to go. Nesting Ospreys in the loch half a mile away. I miss it already. For activities , walks, peace and quiet what a place to visit. A few bottles of the uisge beatha from a local distillery and some nice weather and its little slice of heaven. Great with friends too. Thoroughly recommend. "

"Recent trip to Scotland, staying at the cottage was very nice. The location is great for visiting the surrounding areas. It was peaceful, the location of the cottage is quite close to the main lodge, the guests staying there kept themselves to themselves and so did we but this could of put us off if this was not the case. There is a public footpath that runs by the side of the house no issues either. Only downside and this is my personal perspective, is that the bed was a bit uncomfortable. But everyone enjoyed there stay. The lounge is quite spacious and the kitchen is nice. We had to clean a couple of frying pans, but no real issues. All in all a very good location."

"We have been self catering three or four times a year for some time now. I have to say we have found an absolute gem in Suidhe Cottage. It is set in the grounds of the Hotel, but enjoys an amaizing garden, with private hot tub and cosy wood burner. At the front of the hotel, the owners have a separate and small public bar frequented mainly by locals. The bar is very dog friendly, and the locals are very chatty too, making new staying guests very welcome. Thankyou so much to the owners for looking after us. We will definately be back next year. "Suidhe Cottage is ideally placed for all Wintr and Summer activities. We travelled with the express purpose of skiing in the Cairngorms. The cottage is easily accessible and Aviemore is only 6 miles away. The venue is relaxed and quiet, set in tranquil grounds belonging to Suidhe Hall. It was below freezing mostly with snow on the ground but with a log fire burning and electric heaters in the bedrooms it was very warm.. The owner, Mike, was welcoming, informative and friendly. An informal atmosphere and the colourful locals, who also frequented the well stocked bar, make you feel welcome. Highly recommended."

It snowed every day we were there (we were hoping for snow on our visit ) Lot's of lovely walks near the lodge our dog's had a ball. Mike the owner was lovely and very helpful. Sitting in the hot tub in the snow was just amazing. The lodge it's self was very spacious the only bad point thing was on arrival there was a few dirty glasses and plate but nothing the dishwasher couldn't sort out. Overall we had a great time and will most definitely return. I would highly recommend this lodge."

"A very enjoyable experience. We were greeted on arrival by Mike, the owner, and were immediately made welcome. The property was ready early so we made our way down. We had no problems but if you are infirm or struggle with mobility then the pathway may be a challenge. The cottage itself was as advertised in the brochure, and the log burner and hot tub were utilised to their full extent. All the wood was readily available and Mike said to hep ourselves from the wood store if we needed more. The property is wood cabin effect and has rustic feel and look in the decor and furnishings. It was little too cluttered with for my taste but not something that spoils the holiday. The hot tub was perfect end to the days of hill walking, especially after the cairngorm walk which is about 10 miles from the property. Aviemore is six miles and there is a bus stop directly outside the property, but if there is 4 or more then get a taxi, it's cheaper. The nearest pub is in the main house and is highly recommended, the locals use it regularly and we made welcome by everyone, our host, Mike, doubled up as barman and was a mine of information and full of anecdotal stories to pass the evening away. All in all a very good holiday was had by all of our party and would return again."
