Reviews of Dunstaffnage Cottage

"Cottage far exceeded our expectations, wish we could of stayed longer. Very spacious, has all the modern amenities and is in a fantastic location right on the edge of the woods and a 5 to 10 minute walk from the local shops & restaurants. Had a fantastic welcome from the owners including a bottle of chilled wine in the fridge, already planning a return visit."

"A very well appointed cottage in lovely location on the edge of Grantown - a 10 minute stroll from the town centre. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and cosy just as you'd want and is a great base for exploring the local countryside. If you're tall-ish take care upstairs - some low sloping ceilings there! A word of warning if you're bringing bikes on a roof top bike carrier - I think its remiss that this isn't mentioned or not highlighted on the cottage description but as you enter to the property area there's a leafy arch - which is supported by a solid metal frame and substantial tree branches. This arch was low enough to catch our bikes and consequently damaged to car roof and carrier, even at very low speed..."

"My family and I had a magical Christmas in this cottage. We received a very warm and friendly welcome from the owner when we arrived. The cottage was absolutely beautiful and cosy. The kids had plenty of space and we did not feel closed in. Everything you need is in this cottage. It was no different to being home. It was very clean and comfortable. The bedrooms are very spacious and plenty of storage space. The linen was all fresh and clean which was really good. The kitchen is very well equipped. There was plenty of outside space for the kids to play, a separate play area for children was really welcoming and would be ideal for a summer vacation. It is within easy walking distance of the local amenities and is an ideal location if you wish to travel around Aviemore and Inverness. It is perfect for a relaxing holiday break. I will definitely come back to stay in this cottage and would recommend this to my family and friends."

"Located practically in a wood and within comfortable travel of both Inverness and Aviemore this is an ideal family accommodation. Grantown-on-Spey itself is a nice little town with several unique little craft shops 5 minutes walk away. Just one little warning, the upstairs bedrooms suffer from a little restricted head room due to slanted roof and the floorboards are a little creaky. However this certainly doesn't detract from overall experience. Highly recommended"

The 3 bedrooms are well presented and all have their own bathrooms. We loved the open plan kitchen diner and living room which meant we could all be together but in our own space. It is also very well heated which was lovely to come back to after days out. The kitchen has everything you could want with a big fridge freezer outside in a shed for beer and wine!! Well placed for trips out and Wi-Fi for stays in. Our welcome bottles in the fridge were a very nice touch - would highly recommend"

This is the perfect place to come home to after a day of sightseeing. The website does not do it justice. From the warm Scots greeting from the owners to the level of thoughtfulness and well equipped rooms. There is a great sense of generosity and style in all the rooms. From lovely toiletries to the welcome bottle of wine chilling in the fridge to the biggest softest towels on our road trip. And the surroundings are just serene and lovely. Great location for any number of activities including the whisky distilleries. Thank you to both owners for such a warm and welcome environment."

"We rented the cottage for family members to celebrate a 60th birthday. The cottage is a 5 star venue, with a well stocked kitchen, comfortable sitting area and 3 lovely bedrooms. There are lovely gardens to sit in and an amazing play area for children. A highlight of our holiday was watching red squirrels feeding from tree boxes. The owners live in a large house on site but while being helpful and stopping for a chat, they were not intrusive. When you arrive drive to the end of the road and turn into the large black and gold gates, proceed passed the large house and you will see the cottage. Large, well stocked Co-op 5 minute drive away. Sylhet Brasserie Indian on the High Street was good for a carryout. The Riverside Restaurant was nice for a meal but book up as it is small and busy."

""Wonderful" is just one of the ways we can describe the week we stayed at Dunstaffnage Cottage. Excellent accomodations - roomy - clean - comfortable. Kitchen was generally well appointed - excellent appliances and more than enough dishes and flatware. The local Co-op grocery store was an easy 10 minute walk, so we never wanted for anything. Location was excellent - Granton-on-Spey proved to be an excellent base of operations from which we could go visit the region's castles, distilleries and other attractions. Sandy proved to be a wonderful host, quickly responded to all of our needs and provided good insight into the local pubs and restaurants. We would come back to the Cottage in a heart beat. "There quite literally is only one word to describe our holiday and that is Fantastic. A beautiful part of the world with endless opportunities for nature spotting and spending long days outdoors. The write up in Sykes brochure really does not do the cottage justice it is great with all the little extra's you would expect to find in hotel accommodation. The gardens and wood are very accessible and we played croque most nights (after googling the rules). The owners were very pleasant and really made us welcome. All told we had a fantastic holiday (we always do) but the cottage exceeded our expectations and made our stay in grantown even better. 5*** experience. Thanks Sykes we know if it's in your brochure it will be good."
