In the Scottish Highlands, Grantown-on-Spey has shops, bars and restaurants as well as a museum. The Cairngorms National Park offers mountain biking, fishing, five golf courses, walking, bird-watching and the Castle and Whisky trails. Popular spots nearby include Aviemore and the striking city of Inverness.
From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

"We have just returned from a very relaxing holiday in Dalnahaven. Comfortable and cosy. The small garden was good for the dog. Very close to town centre but actually very quiet. Jacki and Cam ( the owners) live nearby and were very helpful when we had a minor problem with the central heating. I guess the only possible negative might be that there was no off road parking but we had no problem parking outside the cottage most of the time. We will certainly return to this cottage."
