Reviews of The Wee Barn

"The Wee Barn was the perfect base in such a stunningly beautiful place. The surroundings were breathtaking, and so peaceful. The views from The Barn included mountains, the Loch and fabulous night skies. Walking down to the jetty to watch the seals, and the deer, was a highlight each morning, and there was an abundance of great walks to choose from. Gael, Doug and family were very welcoming and were happy to advise on places to visit during our stay. Though we stayed in late Autumn the Wee Barn was warm and cosy, especially with the log burning stove which Gael very kindly had lighting on our arrival. This was in addition to the amazing welcome pack which included milk, eggs and bread. The locals we met while out walking were always chatty and friendly. We both enjoyed the Wee Barn and the general area immensely, and feel it was one of our best ever holidays. We will definitely return, and can't recommend it highly enough."

"Had a lovely time at the wee barn. Stunning location and absolutely 5 star, unique accommodation. Spotlessly clean with a log burner to make the welcome "home" so cosy. We will definitely be back."

"Although we had talked about visiting Scotland, I was merely searching the internet to get an idea of prices. Then I saw The Wee Barn, and I was in love. Ten minutes later I had booked a week in July. Prior to departure we had some good communications with Gael, the owner of the cabin, and we found the accommodation easily enough. Gael greeted us on arrival, explaining various things about the cabin, then left us to settle in. Throughout our stay, Gael was always available to answer any questions, but was never obtrusive in any way. The location of the wee barn is totally idyllic, miles from anywhere, surrounded by countryside and water. Deer roam freely, even in the field next to the cottage, seals can be found on the rocks at the bottom of the lane, and less than a mile away we spotted a golden eagle soaring above. The nearest small store is some 12 miles or so away, and the big (!) town of Ullapool around 35 miles. If you are after a remote, get-away-from-it-all holiday, the The Wee Barn is ideal. There is so much to explore in this area, the roads are mostly single-track with passing places but hardly any traffic, so motoring is a pleasure. We could easily have spent three weeks here and not seen everything. The barn has thick, stone walls that keeps the heat down during the day, and a wood-burning oven to warm you up in the evening should you need it (we didn't). The interior is small (there is a hint in the name), with essentially two rooms: The living room/dining room/kitchen which comes complete with a two-seater sofa, a dining table with two chairs and a very well stocked kitchen with a full-size cooker. The bed is of a decent size with a very comfortable mattress and a walk-in closet. The bathroom is very clean and modern with a decent shower and underfloor heating (which is very welcome first thing in the modern, especially as the stone floors can get a little chilly. In the entrance hall is a comfy chair and a bookcase filled with novels, maps, guide books and other reading materials, which means you'll never get bored in the evenings, although in the summer months daylight doesn't fade until bedtime, so you could easily just sit outside and gaze over the loch. We absolutely loved The Wee Barn, its location, the service received from Gael while we were there and our time in this part of Scotland in general."
