Reviews of Hazelbank Byre

"From moment we arrived till the moment we left was one of the best holidays by far. Hazelbank Byre was so clean, comfortable and cosy a real home from home. Hosts Jim and Susan have a little gem here and with them both being so friendly and helpful there is not one fault with this place to stay, Plenty of walks and places to visit with a lot of history to explore. Added bonus of catching a ferry over to Tobernory, well worth a visit and a stay at this fabulous cottage."

"We were lucky enough to spend a week here at the end of July and the beginning of August. The views from the cottage are stunning and the whole area is wild and magical, the perfect place to get away from the rush of modern life and relax. Sue and Jim were perfect hosts, really friendly with fabulous local knowledge, actually all of the people in this part of the world are so friendly and helpful. The Byre was a fabulous base for exploring the peninsula, everything that we required was there and the bed was huge and so comfortable. We slept so well each night and woke up refreshed to do some more exploring. A fantastic holiday, we really did feel totally refreshed."

"From the warm greetings by our hosts, through the spectacular views we woke to each morning, Hazelbank Byre proved to be exceptional. Sqeaky clean and well provisioned with utensils and basic seasonings, this became a haven of a base for our holiday. We took two medium size dogs and they loved it as much as we did! Along with a very welcoming bottle of wine when we arrived, Mollie and Willow also had there own treats waiting for them. Our hosts couldn't have been more helpful or friendly, although one minor criticism is that I was not stopped from entering the heavy section in the local Highland Games when, after half a bottle of Prosecco, I thought it was a good idea! Luckily we were able to retire to the comfiest bed I've ever slept in. We will definitely be booking again! I cannot recommend highly enough."

"Great location if you are looking to chill out for a week or 2 or take in the stunning views with a few of the many well travelled walking routes near to the location. The owners Jim and Susanare without doubt the best hosts we have ever encounterd very helpful to any requests you needas this is our second year there they treated us like long lost friends very nice welcome. The big double bed is very, very comfy especially after being out all day walking or travelling although the village is small the people are very friendly and there is nearly always something going on,there is a new cafe the puffin which is quite reasonable"

"Just back from a week staying at Hazelbank Byre and loved every minute of it. The cottage has everything you need - it even has a telescope set up in the front window for wildlife spotting!! The bed is the most comfortable I have ever slept in! The owners, Jim and Susan, couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. There is wildlife everywhere! On my last day I sat in the sunshine at the front door and was treated to a Sea Eagle flying overhead!!! The location is great for exploring the surrounding area. I particularly enjoyed my trips (from the local pier)to Tobermory on the local Mull ferry and to Staffa and the Isle of Lunga (it's amazing how close the puffins and other birds will let you come). Hamish, my dog, also loved it - so much so he didn't want to come home with me! All in all enjoyed it so much I booked for the same time next year. Can't wait to go back!"

"Kilchoan is the perfect place for a totally relaxing holiday and Hazelbank Byre the perfect place to be based during your visit. You'll find it hard to better the wee cottage, the spectacular views and the perfect hosts. Susan and Jim made us feel very welcome and comfortable in their great cottage, willing to share their knowledge and give you the space to relax. A complimentary bottle of wine was an unexpected nice welcoming touch! Highlights included visits to the famous Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, Sanna Bay sands, Tobermory on the Isle of Mull by local ferry, Adrnamurchan Distillery (thanks Ricky), but taking the time relax and soak in the beauty was the main thing. 100% recommended, we'll be back!"

"What a beautiful place, the Byre is in a stunning location you feel relaxed as soon as you get out of the car. A small property but very well equipped, other than a non stick frying pan we wanted for nothing in there. Susan & Jim are wonderful people and extremely helpful even leaving us a bottle of bubbly and dog biscuits for our boy who was most welcome even in their garden. Lovely walks for miles around but be careful on the main roads some vehicles driven too fast. So a massive thank you to two lovely people, a great holiday let."
