Situated at the head of Loch Long - the most northerly point in the network of lochs that extend from the Clyde Estuary - is the village of Arrochar. This region is very popular amongst climbers, due to its proximity to Ben Arthur, often referred to as the Cobbler, and various other peaks. Also in the area is the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The village itself offers an unusually large selection of shops, restaurants and pubs and is just a mile and a half away from another Loch Lomondside village - Tarbert. The impressive expanse of water of Loch Lomond provides a variety of interesting and exciting activities such as a gentle stroll through the Balloch Castle Country Park and the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. There are numerous other walking and climbing opportunities throughout the region.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

"We had a fabulous time at Cairn View. The location is stunning and perfectly situated for walking and sightseeing in a fairly wide area. The cottage backs on to Loch Long and is enclosed by adequate fencing to allow a dog to roam freely outside. There is a patio table and benches plus a barbecue when the weather permits. Double glazed windows throughout kept out the wind. The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming and he did everything he could to make our stay memorable. The pub next door is very friendly, dogs are allowed in the bar and the food is great."

"The ability to sit and just look out over the loch at the hills was fabulous. The owner is very friendly and happy to advise/talk - and his lovely dog was a friendly face too. Arrochar is a good place to base yourself. All on one level so good for people who don't like stairs. Good parking. Quiet house despite being next to pub. "

However the owner was very helpful and supportive to us, he even brought our grandson a present. We hope to go back at a later date to have a proper holiday."
