Reviews of Auburn Cottage

"This is a wonderful property. The obvious things are in the listing: the spacious house, the hot tub, the nearby golf course etc. But it's the other things that set it aside. There is loads of crockery and glasses, slippers for stepping out to the pool, lots of games - both Board Games and X-Box, oodles of fridge and freezer space, gloriously spacious and well-maintained gardens, lots of towels and many other touches that go above and beyond to make your stay that bit more special. If you can bear to leave - and our teenagers weren't at all keen - take a bicycle and enjoy the gentle ride into Arbroath - across the golf course and then down a disused railway line into town. There is lots to see there, lovely cliff walks, the Signal House Museum about the Bell Rock Lighthouse and loads of great fish and chip shops (and the best Pie Shop I have ever been to called PieBobs). Despite not coming far (Edinburgh and Aberdeen) we were surprised at what the area had to offer."

"Auburn cottage is everything you could need and more. We spent a week there with our family (3 generations) and were more than impressed with the standard of the house - the owners had thought of everything. The hot tub was an added bonus and the grounds are just ideal - we were lucky with the weather and spent a lot of time outside. The house is furnished and equipped to a vey high standard and the beds were very comfortable indeed. We were left a lovely welcome gift of wine, jams and shortbread which was most unexpected but very much appreciated. There was lots of information left for us regarding places to visit, shop eat etc. A lovely time was had by all. Wouldn't hesitate to book again the next time we visit the area."

"This was our second year here. My parents are 86 and 83 and try to get their family together every year as we are all spread out and are at different stages in our lives. There were 13 of us some nights . So much space inside, you never feel crowded. The extensive grounds are wonderful to walk round, play games in or simply enjoy while sitting on one of the 2 patio areas. We have been lucky each year and have enjoyed fabulous weather and have practically lived outside. The kitchen is very well equipped for large numbers, the owners have thought of everything. Makes cooking for the masses so much easier. We do a big shop on day 1 as there are 2 fridges and 2 freezers! The beds are very comfortable and the rooms large and airy, you are guaranteed to sleep well. We all love the walks from the house, especially my parents, they averaged 10,000 steps each day! I can't think of any other house that will ever compare to this. We are so thankful to Alison and Frank for the wonderful family memories we will always have at our time in Auburn Cottage."

"Our family (age range from 6yrs to 76yrs) stayed at Auburn Cottage for a week commencing 5th April. A large, comfortable and well equipped house in beautiful surroundings. It was spacious, very clean, warm and the beds were extremely comfortable. The hot tub was an added bonus and a big hit with the children. The owner Alison was so helpful and gave me lots of ideas for places to visit. We have all agreed that we would like to return and would highly recommend."

"Went down to Arbroath for Burns weekend with a group of 14 friends. The house was stunning, big and spacious with clean rooms and attractive surroundings. The house was excellently stocked with badminton, plenty of extra glasses and plates (glass and plastic for use outside), games and books. All bedrooms were well decorated with large, comfortable beds and plenty of storage space. Great location, quiet and scenic area and 5-10 minute drive from the town centre. Lovely hosts who even provided complimentary prosecco and jams. Highly recommend and would stay again."

Everything about it is 1st class. The interior of the whole house is done to a great standard, gardens are huge and made even better having a hot tub to relax in. Everything you need for a large group is catered for and would highly recommend it. Will definitely be back for another visit"

"Wow wow wow!! We are at Auburn Cottage and go home tomorrow. We don't want to ever leave! We are a family of 13 from various parts of the country and we have all met up here for various number of nights. How easy the owners have made it for families to get together with minimum work. Cooking for 13 was easy. The kitchen is a great size and is so well equipped with big pots, wok etc. The bedrooms are beautiful and the beds a dream to sleep on. After 12 hour days for a week working on our son's flat in Newcastle, we are now feeling refreshed. The gardens are extensive and very private. We have practically lived outside this week. The trees are stunning and the birds sing all day long. One of our party studied here for her PhD tomorrow. She was only here for a night and ended staying for 4! She said it was the most chilled out pre exam week she has ever had. There is so much space indoors and outdoors that if you need to get away from everyone, there is somewhere for you. God willing we will be back!!"

"A group of 10 of us stayed for 3 nights over new year. Located in a beautiful and peaceful area, the house is absolutely massive. Decoration in each bedroom was lovely - the ladies loved the little touch of Miniature toiletries too. The kitchen was equipped with everything you could possibly need. The hot tub was amazing too - nothing better than bringing in the new year with a glass of prosecco in the hot tub watching fireworks from nearby neighbours :-) had a call from the owner a few days before we arrived and the day we arrived in the house the housekeeper called to make sure everything was ok and check if we had any questions - fantastic communication. We all agreed we would love to visit again soon. "

"I have stayed in many, many holiday let's over the years all over Scotland and this one was , by far, the best I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. I booked the place for a party with friends to celebrate my birthday and it managed to accommodate all of us for the long weekend with the golf course providing a gorgeous backdrop for a scenic walk with many rabbits and buzzards and kites to gawk at. The glens a beautiful yet challenging day out. The town of Arbroath has some great restaurants and bars and are easy to get to, with the beach walk a very nice backdrop to eat to. The house itself has everything I found I needed, even fast WiFi which is a rarity amongst holiday lets. The quality of the place is outstanding and I can't be more grateful that the owners have welcomed us back for repeat visits"

"I stayed here in December. Large, spacious rooms with gorgeous views of an adjacent golf course, two living areas, very beautifully decorated and a hot tub! But the best thing about this vacation cottage is the care and thoughtfulness of the owners in providing literally everything you could possibly need or want. Examples: Plastic containers in the kitchen for leftovers, Toiletries in the baths so you don't have to travel with the dreaded liquids on planes, huge fluffy towels, 2 refrigerators, but the best thing was this...... I came with Children. Active young Children. And it Rained. It RAINED. The garage is equipped with safe, age appropriate games and toys that kept my little beasts entertained whilst I sat in relative quiet (with 9 other members of my family) chatting and not once... not ONCE did i hear, "I'm bored". It was amazing. This really is a bit of paradise. I love the decor, I loved the view from the sitting room and I lusted after the fully equipped kitchen. You will love this place. I do, and I plan to return on a yearly basis, kids in tow, mother-in-law, sister in law and the whole crew. All the way from Houston, Texas. PS, I took some great pictures when I toured the abandoned stately home/hotel next door at the golf course... atmospheric! I don't believe there is a way to attach them, but they were cool."

"What a location, couldn't get over how mild it was and how beautiful the setting is. Everything was fresh and new and the hot tub must have cost a fortune. It's set next to a golf course and has a huge plot so it isn't overlooked. The owners made us so welcome and the nearby town of Arbroath has some cracking pubs and restaurants. If you love watching wildlife there's lots of birds, squirrels etc in the grounds. All in all highly recommended and unusually for us we'll book to come here again."

"A small mixed group of us stayed for a long weekend. Fabulous property with lots of attention to detail and well designed for both groups of adults and families. The number of bedrooms allowed privacy for those of us not in couples. We got to have our own "adult" rooms. This doesn't always happen in rented properties where us singles usually have no choice but to share rooms, often with beds designed for kids! Each bedroom had different bedding and decor, which was all really high quality and made for a good night's sleep. The rest of the house is decorated beautifully throughout We loved being able to cook in the large kitchen, dine altogether at the long dining table and then retreat to the very lovely conservatory for after dinner wine. The hot tub was, not surprisingly, a big favourite for the whole group. Getting into the warm water when it was freezing outside was a fabulous treat! I stay in lots of rental properties and have to say this is one of the best yet. Can't wait to visit again!"

We left the property in a clean state even put some bed linen in the washing machine but this wasn't good enough for the owner of this house he also said we broke one of the doors which we didnt go near. And if this was the case why didnt he contact us about it the door and we where in and out hot tub all weekend and the colour of the water changed. So we are not welcome back which we wouldnt be going back anyway with the way he spoke to my mum on the phone."

We thought we were doing the right thing by cleaning and doing laundry before we left but again the owner was not happy at this. The property was spotless when we left, what owner would not appreciate this!!! Great property but pitt about the owner of it"
