Reviews of The High Field

"Stayed here recently and on first glance, its a beautiful property, in a stunning spot, with amazing views. However on closer inspection, things are starting to look a little rough around the edges. Not going in to too much detail, but the place could have been cleaner. It would benefit from a lick of paint here and there, plus kitchen worktop needs resealing, loose wall socket needs addressing and a few other minor jobs. I never noticed a fire blanket or extinguisher in the kitchen, which i thought it should have, but may be laws in Ireland are different to England. This property has the potential to be 5 star, currently its only 3 1/2, that said dont be put off , the positives outway the negatives."

"The High Field was well appointed, with just the right amount of furniture. Bathrooms and towels were excellent. Beds comfortable. The views were stunning and when the weather was bad it was very atmospheric. Loads of parking. Plenty to do and explore in the locality."

"The location of the house was amazing, beautiful views from the front bedrooms and the living / dining room. This is a really nice house to holiday in if you have a large group, so the house is well designed and laid out over 3 floors."

"The house is In a brilliant spot and it had the most stunning views from every window! The size of the property meant everyone had space to enjoy their holiday. There is everything in the property; iron, hairdryer, towels, utility room etc. The owner is extremely nice and couldn't be more helpful. The town is a short drive away and the Ring Of Kerry hotel serves the tastiest of food (especially the chowder). Reasonably priced and we ate there a few times! The shops have everything you need and a lots of nice friendly people. We would definitely return! 5 stars!"

"We stayed with friends and family at this house, it was amazing, clean, good rooms, plenty to do. Kitchen /living area open so good to integrate with everyone whilst meals prepared, although we did eat out a lot. Plenty parking space and on route to Kerry ring with spectacular views. The town was only a little way, we drove and left cars or got the local mini bus which was great, the driver was good egg, and knew the local proprietor house. Would recommend this property for a get away with family friends. Probably lucky we got good weather, little rain in the morning soon shifted and late evening when we were home, didn't stop us enjoying the area, we drove on the ferry to Valencia island purchased some local candles, and chocolate shop for some yummy chops."

"A group of friends and I booked to stay at The High Field for a couple of nights over New Years 30th Dec-1st of Jan. We wanted to stay somewhere for large groups where we could cook big meals, have long walks and play music in the local pubs. Well, staying at the High Field provided us with all that and much more! The location is absolutely beautiful for one and has breath taking panoramic views of Valentia Island and the surrounding areas. The house we were all blown away by, it is SO spacious inside and open planned allowing the light to flood through. All of the rooms (apart from the bunk bed room) has an en suite and a walk in wardrobe/dressing area and then there is another main bathroom too. The house is very clean and well equipped and we were delighted to find an iPod dock and speakers as we had forgot to bring ours! Eileen the owner, made us all feel very welcome and left us a 'Happy New Year' card, a bottle of wine an apple pie and some gorgeous chocolates!! There was also tea, coffee and milk left for us! Eileen was in contact when we needed her and she sent us a list of things to do and recommendations on how to spend our New Years the local, traditional way! We went to Portmagee for a traditional procession and then back to Cahersiveen to Craineens pub where we had actually spent the previous night with the lovely locals singing all the old Irish tunes and having the craic! It is easy to get taxis around the area (something we had been worried about) and we were able to get a mini bus around for a reasonable price and until quite late at night. We were a group of 26-28 year olds but the house would be perfect for most age groups and families with children. There is a games room which is an added bonus for the rainy days in or having a few competitive games of bar football before hitting the local boozer! There is so much to do in the area and we would of stayed a lot longer if we could have. Overall, it really is the perfect base for exploring County Kerry and I would recommend it to anyone, we will be back soon I hope! Thanks Eileen!"
