Location

This traditional cottage offers comfortable accommodation for up to four people and is all on the ground floor. The lounge houses the dining area and this cosy room has an oil burning stove in a striking stone fireplace. There are two bedrooms with fresh, appealing decor, and the shower room can be accessed by the hall or through the single room, whilst the kitchen is compact but well equipped. The enclosed front lawn has garden furniture and the property benefits from a shed that can be used as storage for bikes and other outdoor equipment. The shop and a pub are just a mile and a half away in the village of Kinvara and other amenities are available there. With its snug ambience, this traditional property makes a wonderful base for a holiday in this lovely location.

The south of County Galway is the location for the picturesque seaside village of Kinvara, a popular centre for visitors to this beautiful part of Ireland. The entrance to the village is marked by Dunguaire Castle, and the village harbour is still home to the impressive vessels known as 'Galway Hookers' as working examples. These sailing crafts used to sell their commodities as they sailed between Connemara and Kinvara. There are many pubs and restaurants in the village and twice a year, to celebrate the culture and heritage of the area, festivals are held that well worth seeing if visitors are lucky enough to be in the area when these are happening. Galway has been called the 'city of festivals' and has delightful alleyways waiting to be explored, and with Burren National Park within reach there really is something to delight everyone.

Towering cliffs stand next to vast stretches of golden sand, whilst vast mountain ranges cradle cool, low-lying lakes. The Galway region epitomises the term 'great outdoors'; with fantastic walking and cycling and exhilarating water sports.

Reviews of Mickey's Cottage

"Easy driving distance to Galway, Clare and the west coast. This lovely homely cottage was everything we needed for a quiet retreat. It was our base for setting off to several locations site seeing. There is no internet / wifi in the cottage and the TV has saorview channels but also a working DVD player and CD/radio so bring along your favourite discs / Box sets. We had 2 dogs with us who thoroughly enjoyed the freedom of the enclosed front garden. The cottage is very well kept and in excellent condition. There are 2 forms of heating for when the sun goes down and the evenings are cooler. The beds were comfortable with ample bedding provided. The kitchen is small but well equipped although I do not like solid plate cookers such as the one currently in the cottage. The owner was very friendly and easy to contact."

"Secluded cottage five minutes drive from Kinvarra. Ample parking to rear for two cars. Tiled floor a bit cool - bring slippers. Brilliant gas fire in living area - you can regulate how much you want. TV small and limited for choice. Kinvarra is charming and caters for all your needs other than a large supermarket. Very pleasant pharmacist. If you want to go sea fishing try and book in advance as it seemed to be the luck of the draw on the day. If you visit Galway, park up near Shop St and do it on foot. The land lady was very helpful, located nearby. Dogs allowed."

"We spent two weeks in this lovely traditional cottage, well equipped and cosy inside. The owner was caring, helpful, and welcoming. Our dog Sam loved the enclosed garden, and his canine mates up the road. We liked the location, with the Burren to the South, and Connemara to the North West. Kinvara provided all the sustenance required at a variety of bars, cafes & restaurants!! Excellent value for a relaxing break. "
