Reviews of Blue Stack House

"An amazing cottage with friendly owners who were very helpful and provided suggestions to places to see and things to do as it was our first visit to Ireland. The scenery around the cottage is beautiful."

"Blue Stack House is an amazing property nestled in the Blue Stack Mountains close to the walking route of the Blue Stack Way. The house has commanding views of Donegal and the Atlantic Coast. The weather was excellent while we were there and we could see all the way to Sligo! The facilities were excellent and everything is clearly well maintained and looked after. The owners were lovely and made us feel really welcome. Only 2.5 hours from the Belfast ferry. We will gladly stay here again."

"From the first meeting with the owners it felt we were with family. They could not have been more helpful, always checking if everything was okay for us and if we needed any help whilst in Ireland, we were to contact them. Then the house, the most beautiful holiday home we have stayed at, during our many travels to Ireland, a real home from home, a jewel. I had read the location was remote, but that was exactly what we were looking for, it is only minutes away from Donegal town and a perfect location for walkers, or those of us that enjoy the peace and the beauty the countryside offers. Each morning, we were in awe of the amazing scenery, so much so, we did not want to leave, but as we are returning again in November, it made things easier, knowing we will be returning. Thank you so much for making our stay so unforgettable."

"The house was perfect in every way. The rooms spacious and spotless. The views over Bundoran and Sligo town were spectacular. We managed 3 very long hikes straight from the house in all directions. There is easy access across the owners land onto the mountain side. Any of these hikes could be sliced up a little to make more realistic days. We also walked down to the Desert graveyard; well worth a visit. The owners Noreen and Con were lovely hosts. Con met us and gave us the full guided tour. We also spotted them in the field across the road with the sheep and in the car and stopped to chat. Both very friendly, knowledgeable of the area and welcoming. I hope to return."

"The property is in the Blue Stack Mountains, an area of outstanding natural beauty. There is practically no traffic at the property, which affords a private and relaxing safe environment for guests. Donegal is a short car journey away, as is the beach and the Wild Atlantic Way. The house is well proportioned and equipped to meet the needs of a large extended family. "

"This is a five star property! A total gem! The house itself had everything you could possibly need - right down to jigsaws for rainy afternoons. It's located in the pristine surroundings of the Bluestack mountains. Everything to help make your stay comfortable has been thought of. The beds are comfy, the bedding is quality, the kitchen is well equipped and there's WiFi! It's a real home from home. The owner's deserve a special mention, they're worth their weight in gold. They took fabulous care of us. So much so we are already planning return trips!"

"Noreen very kindly met us at the Blue Stack Centre to lead the way to the house, which is quite isolated (and so saved a bit of map reading arguments!). The weather was best described with the words wet and windy but Noreen had the stove lit and a loaf of wheaten ready for us, we couldn't ask for more. The house is large and bright, the bedrooms clean and comfortable. Lots of walking to be done around the area (weather permitting) and while seemingly very remote, Donegal town is not an unreasonable distance away should a visit be required. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to get a bit of peace and quiet and enjoy the spectacular views."
