Reviews of Sidane Cottage

"The best part of Sidane Cottage is it's proximity to Clonakilty town centre. That's where the benefits end... My husband and I stayed earlier this week and it was such a disappointing experience, we packed up and left earlier than planned. While it's advertised as a studio apartment, it's essentially a converted garage. Part of the kitchen is in the bedroom (you can access food cupboards from the bed) and that shower is a joke... the water fills up the entire bathroom floor and takes an age to drain because there's no shower tray (and this is no wet room either). On top of everything mentioned, and probably the most scary observation, is that the place is filthy. In fact, so much so, we chose no to cook onsite because worktops, the microwave, bread bin, kettle etc hadn't been cleaned in what looked like years. There is ample car parking and a spacious lawn but the position of the annexe offers very little privacy to the occupiers and cars regularly drive in and out to the garden machinery business at the back of the main house. Apart from a quick hello 30 minutes after arrival, the hosts not once during our stay took the time to check on us that everything was okay, did we have any questions, or any trouble with equipment, could they offer any restaurant recommendations - nothing. Overall, we'd never return. Such lack of care and attention demonstrated clearly to me that the owners are not hospitality people and interested purely in just making easy money. "

"The "cottage" was disgraceful. Firstly, it's not a cottage - it's a "room" at the end of a house. The shower & toilet was an utter disgrace - the amount of mould was sickening. The cleanliness was terrible - the amount of hairs and dust was dreadful. AVOID this place at all costs. Despite having paid upfront and in full for our stay - we hated it so much we left the place early."

"It doesn't get any better than Sidane Cottage. Everything we could possibly need was there and everything was top quality. Kitchen was small but well equipped, bed was comfortable and linens were high quality, a washer/dryer and iron were in the cottage, seating area was comfortable with a leather sofa, and there was a computer (good WiFi) and a good supply of reading material and games. Parking was at the door. All this was in a beautifully landscaped yard - a very special place. The location was also excellent - just out of the town of Clonakilty and close to a great number of attractions of recreational and cultural/historical interest, The hosts were friendly and helpful. There was nothing that could be improved here and we would refer anyone to Sildane Cottage."

"Everything was perfect; the sailing, the journey and the studio we stayed in at. The owners were excellent hosts, we are looking forward to staying with them in the future."
