Reviews of St Michael's Cottage

"Why I was disappointed The garden was appalling - as the last review on trip advisor also referred too ( unfortunately I had not read this before booking) - it was mainly mud and rubble where a big tree or something had been ripped out. There were old cigarette lighters and things in the rubble. The garden backs onto a farm outbuilding of some sort ( not mentioned in the details) and is extremely small. We booked this place as we had dogs and it advertised a well enclosed garden - but the fence is very low and had a gap underneath it so not very helpful. We used the rubble in the garden to fill up small gaps. Price For almost 700 pounds for the week I could have booked somewhere much better and will not return Good points The property had been cleaned really well Good WIFI Takes dogs Surrounding villages and countryside absolutely fantastic Suggestions Owners need to redo the garden urgently if they want better reviews and reduce the cost if they want to book it regularly !"

"Very disappointed with this place. The 'Garden' is disgraceful. Cracked concrete with weeds, & a small grassed area - all very messy. Massive overgrown bramble hedges make it very shady. BBQ filthy and no grill. Not an area we would want to use at all. Not the "delightful garden" as described in the Sykes website, and we're pretty sure there was a photograph on the website of the garden next door. Not there now though. Bed linen is old, thin & bobbly. Very uncomfortable. Sheets are badly fitting, & are all either too big or too small for the mattresses & duvets. There were black dog hairs on one of the duvet covers, and even hairs on the sheet when I pulled back the duvet. The toilet had not been properly cleaned. And as for the state of the toilet brush... Completely caked in faeces (and I do mean completely). The bathroom reeked. Main Shelf missing from fridge door. Sofa very old and sagging. cushions again very old. All need updating. No hairdryer. We emailed Sykes on the Saturday and again on Sunday, it's now Wednesday and still no response. Very disappointed."

"this was an ideal cottage for a restful holiday with the family and three dogs, plenty of places to walk yoiur dog has a enclosed back garden which is ideal last thing at night or first thing in the morning,Once you remember the low doorways and the beam in the lounge/dining room area(we placed a reminder towel)you have a log burner which there is a starter pack provided but you will need a few bags depending on what time of the year you stay.the kitchen is modern with all you need, the stairs have gates top and bottom. The stairs do need some care as they are open tread but the cottage is a grade two listed building.Plenty of parking space there where four cars when we stayed as St Michaels farm house is ajoining this property ,the only thing we could not find was a cloths line in the back garden one of those retractable ones would be ideal.other wise enjoyed our week stay there a pub not far away plus St Peters brewery just a mile away so theres plenty of scope of either stay in or visit the local"

Owners easily on hand if needed and quick to fulfil any request. Very dog friendly (we took our 3 small dogs!). Ideal for families with pets and small children and would recommend. Lots of lovely places to visit a short car journey away."

The wonderful, cute, quaint cottage, which was just perfect for all the family, made it hard for us to leave it in order to explore our surroundings! From the master bedroom in particular, the views were just picture postcard - and we did not have to even get out of bed to see them! Everything was just perfect, a very peaceful, enjoyable week."

"The cottage was in a lovely place, with lots of interesting places within easy reach . It was very clean, comfortable, peaceful, quiet, warm and relaxing. The interior of the cottage with all it's beams and layout was brilliant as we really like old fashioned styles like this. We were impressed with the large bedroom, the best we have slept in. The owners of the cottage were very nice and helpful and we appreciated the bottle of wine and biscuits they gave us. We would highly recommend it to anybody, and hope to stay again. Thank you for a very pleasant stay at their cottage."
