"The barn is well located for exploring the southern part of the Peak District and the property itself is spacious though the 4th bedroom is a small bunk room. The condition of the decor and furnishings however was not "excellent" as described but was tired and tatty at best and appalling at worst. There were burn marks on one part of the kitchen worktop and the top layer of formica had lifted, kickboards under the kitchen worktops were not fitted and left lose at an angle, paint was peeling off the parts of the kitchen units, there was a broken dining chair (8 for 8 people) and others were wobbly, the sofas were saggy, there was mould in the bathrooms and tatty skirting boards, non matching bedside lamps, cheap bedding .... I think you'll get the idea. The agent I booked through agreed, on receiving my photographic evidence, that the condition was not up to standard and contacted the owner who refused to give any compensation though acknowledged the problems. There are several similar properties in the complex which has recently changed ownership and, seeing various tradesmen visiting during the week we were there, are probably going to be "done up". I suggest you find somewhere else to stay at least until the renovation work has been done!"
