Reviews of Hartcliffe View

"I could go over the many lovely things all the previous guests of Hartcliffe view have written but this would become a very long review! So I shall simply say that this house is absolutely stunning and it totally surpassed our expectations. It has been a most wonderful stay with my family and the house was perfect in every way. There is not one thing we would change, the owners were so friendly and helpful and have clearly invested a lot of time in the property as they do their guests. We are already planning a return trip Thank you for having us at Hartcliffe!"

"We spent a week at Hartcliffe View for our 25th wedding anniversary. The size and layout of the property make it ideal for spending time with family and friends of all ages. It is extremely well appointed with 7 lovely bedrooms and a kitchen made for entertaining in. The owners were very helpful, answering all our questions quickly and even calling to make sure we had had a good time when we got home. Everyone was really impressed and keen to go back again, possible in the summer when the BBQ and outdoor space would be fantastic as well. The only problem is that it's a very popular property and so booking early is a must."

On arrival we found chocolates and wine had been left for us, the owner called us to check we were happy with everything and again before we left to ask if everything had been ok for us, they were very attentive without intruding on us. The property has a very high standard of decor throughout everything you could possible think of was supplied for our stay. The surrounding views from the windows were fantastic, the perfect place to stay with your family. We asked if it was possible to have fireworks in the garden and was told definitely no problem at all and to treat the house as our own whilst we were there. Hartcliff is definitely a place we would recommend. Thank you for a lovely holiday"

The bedrooms were all lovely, the kitchen was fully stocked and plenty big enough to cook a roast dinner for 11! We had great fun in the games room and the elegant dining room was a lovely location for group meals. The owners called to check everything as alright a couple of times, and did not charge us for breaking a glass and a plate. Furthermore, when we realised we had left a couple of items at the house they very kindly posted them back to us, free of charge. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone."

"14 of us (age 4-80) and 4 dogs self-catered in this house for Christmas 2016 - there was a large, pretty Christmas tree which was a lovely touch. For such a dog friendly house it was in excellent condition and was very clean/did not smell. There were four rooms with comfortable seats in which to sit and chat (kitchen, dining, living, play), so the different age groups all had somewhere to go. The kitchen has four ovens and plenty of equipment, so preparing Christmas dinner was easy. There was plenty of fridge/cupboard space, so storing things was also easy. There are bar stools and an island, so several people can help prepare food at the same time, in a very sociable way. The dining table is huge. Sainsburys delivered our shopping, but there is an excellent Tesco in Penistone. The beds are almost all king/double, so we had decided which youngsters would need to share beds before we went. The play room is excellent, as is the large garden. The owner cares and when the tin-opener broke on Christmas Eve, a replacement was with us within ten minutes - excellent."

For the last 8yrs a group of us have got together for a long weekend and we can honestly say that this is by far our favourite place we have stayed!! So much, we decided to return again this year. There is not a thing the owners haven't thought about. It's truly a beautiful house and a perfect setting for a large group as there's so much space and nobody felt on top of anyone. There's everything you could possibly need and more (See my previous review from our visit in 2015)! The pub is also only a few minutes walk away and the food is great if you didn't fancy cooking! We are already looking at booking next years weekend here again. I just can't recommend it enough!"

"Can't fault Hartcliffe View at all! Our jaws dropped when we drove onto the drive and even more when we went inside, it was like living in a celebrity mansion for a week! The kitchen was great and contained everything we could possibly need, the bedrooms were all gorgeous and the bathrooms to die for, especially the huge jacuzzi bath! Amazing views from the top floor windows, and the games room was the star attraction, the whole family loved it. We could have quiet happily stayed in all week and not left the house! Special mention to how dog friendly the property is - as a dog owner this is key for me, and there were toys and treats for dogs and even a letter to the dog containing all the key information you would need. The garden was perfect for dogs, completely safe and enclosed and so big it was like a trip to the park right outside the back door. The information folder provided covered everything you would need to know about the house and local area, even maps of local walks (again great for dog owners). The owners were really friendly and considerate, sending emails and ringing up to check everything was OK, a real personal touch. Overall we couldn't have found anywhere better for a large family get together, the house is absolute luxury. We have never visited the same holiday rental twice as we like to experience somewhere new, however Hartcliffe View will be the exception as I am certain we could not find anywhere that even comes close, so we will certainly be back!"

Numerous kitchen utensils, baking trays, pans etc, even herbs and spices. They also provided tea towels, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, loo roll etc. The bath towels and bed linen were of a great quality. A lovely large dining room and living room with plenty of seating for the guests. Hundreds of books to choose from, board games and media games. A fantastic games room on the top floor with further seating. All the beds were really comfy too unlike the other places we have stayed in. All in all the best holiday cottage we have stayed in in the last 6 years of our get togethers!! Plenty of contact from the owners to confirm we were happy with their home. The property is situated in a great location with a pub just a few minutes walk away where we had a lovely Sunday dinner. Excellent value for money. There are lots of nice places to eat in the area and a great choice of take always for those really wanting to have a complete break from cooking. There are so many things to visit in the area from tourist sites, activities, short drive to Meadowhall shopping centre and Sheffield Arena. This really is a great base to explore the surrounding areas. It would be a superb place to stay in the summer as the garden is enormous and has football goals for those that enjoy a game of footie. There are a few things I wouldnt expect from a luxury cottage however, the property sleeps 15 but there is nowhere 15 people can sit together to dine other than outside. There's only 1 house bathroom to serve 4 double bedrooms which can cause delays, the other 3 are ensuite. The central heating kept loosing pressure and had to be topped up on a regular basis. The cleaning company had massively under performed and the ovens filled the kitchen with smoke when first used. Please dont think this house isn't worth considering, it has plenty of plus points, the bed linen and towels are of a very high standard, the games room is fantastic and provided hours of fabulous fun for everybody. The house gave us a great base to take full advantage of the beautiful scenic surroundings and local walks, with the highlight of our week being a day at the National Coal Mine Museum (if you arrange a visit down into the mine, try and make sure that it is with "kebab" as he was so interesting). The property was superb kitted out and was way beyond our expectations. All of the bedrooms were well appointed and the large kitchen had everything we need to cater for 18 people when we were visited by a nephew and family. It also provided a great place for us all to chill. The bathrooms were all really nice, and there were some heated negotiations over who could use the double jacuzzi bath on which evening and even the provided towels and soaps were in the "luxurious" bracket. The landlord made it clear that nothing was too much trouble and when a younger member of our party re-set the (free) wi-fi so that it didn't work, he helped us to sort it out almost immediately! The kitchen comes with plenty of supplies. no need to bring anything really. there was a large selection of pots, pans, plates and glasses. There were also various cooking oils, sugar and washing up liquid left over. The games room is excellent for both adults and children. The pool table is full size and there is more than enough room for everything. We left a half decent pool cue and plenty of chalk too so enjoy! The location is quite remote but ideal for walking and biking. There is a big barbecue and plenty of outdoor furniture. The local shop has all the small things you may have forgotten and is only 2 minutes walk down the road. The local pub is a classic small village place. We didnt eat there but the food looked nice. I believe they do a popular sunday lunch. The pub also has a pool table and sky sports was on the tv which was great for the footy fans among our party. Overall then its an excellent place to stay for young couples or families. My only slight recommendation to the owner would be to add more channels to the sky package :) some sport or even the entertainment channels (sky one, dave etc) would be nice and im sure families with kids would appreciate some cartoon channels."
