Buckland St Mary is a village and parish in Somerset, England, situated 6 miles to the west of llminster and 8 miles south of Taunton in the South Somerset district. The parish is within the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and includes the hamlet of Birchwood. The Parish of Buckland St Mary is one of the largest in Somerset and the village is centred around a large Victorian Church, and thriving Village School. Incorporating five small hamlets, Birchwood, Blackwater, Blindmoor, Dommett and Newtown, there is much to explore within the area. The Somerset County Town of Taunton is nine miles away and the nearest towns of Chard and Ilminster are only six miles in the opposite direction. Towns and villages on the Dorset and Devon World Heritage Coast, also known as the famous Jurassic Coast are about 15 miles away and include Lyme Regis, with its famous Cobb, Beer, Charmouth, Seaton and Branscombe.
