The Shropshire Union Canal and the Regional Cycle Route 75 run through the town, making this town an excellent base for walkers and cyclists.

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

"Both Andrew & Julie are very hospitable and exceptionally accommodating. We arrived late due to traffic and road closures, Julie was kind enough to agree to sign for our supermarket delivery order. Once we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Andrew, just before Julie arrived and gave us an equally warm welcome. As we entered the cottage it has such a lovely warm almost chalet like feel about it. We were given a tour and told there was a welcome basket for us. Butter, bread, crisps, biscuits, tea, coffee and milk. Perfect for a quick snack and a cup of tea! We explored the place and found it to be really nice. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. We had even been given a cake to welcome us with a note telling us it was a Victoria sponge that was wheat and gluten free. Absolutely delicious! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Follow the directions that Julie sends out and it will lead you to the farm and the cottage. "
