An interesting choice of shops, pubs and restaurants can be found here, though the town is most well known for its unique church and its quirky crooked steeple. The famous heritage site of Ironbridge and its 10 museums is close by, as are the historic market towns of Bridgnorth and Ludlow, which has an amazing castle to explore. The Clee Hills and the Wyre Forest offer superb walking opportunities, and sports enthusiasts of all kinds are well-catered for with the number of horse riding, fishing and golf opportunities available in the local area.

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

Reviews of The Bungalow

"I live on Exmoor so I like to choose special places to holiday! The bungalow was really comfortable and dog friendly, lovely alpacas just outide the well fenced garden boundary, kept us entertained. I am not quite sure who was watching whom really! They would watch us moving around the dining room/lounge and showed great interest if we were washing up in the kitchen! Delightful animals. The beds were comfortable, and we were cosy and warm. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was provided. The owners were very welcoming and left some very welcome goodies for our arrival. I particularly enjoye walking from the door with my dog. There was direct access to the Moorland. Out and about there are some interesting places to visit. We enjoyed. Cleobury Mortimer, Ludlow, Cosford Aircraft Museum, Clun, Stokesay Castle, Tenbury Wells and lots of places in between. There is a vast amount info. available in the bungalow. To be honest, I think we would have enjoyed a second week! Would we rent this again? Definitely."

"This was a flying visit of just three days during Crufts but we would have loved to have stayed longer. The Bungalow is clean, spacious, airy and very well equipped. We had an excellent nights sleep. The beds were very comfortable. The outlook is very scenic, made even better by the presence of the Alpaca's! The owners are such a nice welcoming couple. They even provided a fresh fruit bowl, bottle of wine (much appreciated!), fresh eggs and milk. A great place to stay."

"The Bungalow was extremely comfortable and ideally designed for us & my 90 year old Mum; with 2 double bedrooms next to each other; these both had their own shower room & toilet. Each bedroom had double aspect windows & doors out into the garden as did the lounge. The owner was extremely pleasant and always available should we need any help but otherwise unobtrusive save bumping into them whilst walking. There is lots of information booklets & suggestions of places to visit. The scenery as we drove through the National Park was lovely & with the sheep very peaceful to observe."

"This was a most excelent cottage, it had everything we needed and more. It was more out of the way than we usually stay in or so we thought when trying to get there following the SatNav (taking us down all the narrow roads and tracks) but really was only 4 miles from a small town with all the amenaties needed. The cottage itself had 4 really good sized bedrooms with really really comfortable beds, so much so you really dont want to get out. the gardens both fornt and back were great for letting the dogs run around and play, ours were having a daily 'chat' with the owners dogs. The kitchen was very well equiped and the welcome pack that was left was greatly appreciated, loads of fruit, eggs and milk. We found an great little pub for meals which we visited nightly, The Stables Tavern in Cleobury Mortimer. It is out off the way and we only found it when we were looking for a car park for the pub (The Talbot Hotel). The meals were big and tasty and not expensive. The bungalow ideally situated to visit many places of interest including Ludlow with its many Tudor Houses and its castle, the countryside is lovely just to drive around in. We also visited Llandrindod Wells in Wales which is a nice little spa town and found a little cafe by the lake (The Lakehouse) where we stopped to have lunch, again a great find as it the food was very good. Although on the day we went it was raining but was still a nice trip. I would highly reccommend this cottage/bungalow and will be visiting again sometime in the future."

"This is "probably the best holiday let in the world"; it offers peace and quiet but is fairly close to several cities. It is exceptionally comfortable and well appointed. The owners are close by if needed but never intruded. Little extras like milk/fruit/wine show the professionalism of the owners. I would recommend this cottage to anyone/everyone!"

"The location was so quiet and close to so much of interest in this beautiful County, as well as good walks. There was a wonderful quantity of towels, sensibly all different colours and lovely quality, comfortable beds and top-quality bed-linen. The space in the bungalow, the warmth & constant hot water and the family-sized fridge/freezer was also much-appreciated, as was the fact there was a tumbler dryer."
