From the village, the Jacob's Ladder path leads straight up the Edge, providing lovely walks. Nearby is the market town of Church Stretton, which lies in the heart of south Shropshire. It is set amid striking scenery and has often been described as "Little Switzerland". The town is the main centre for Shropshire's hill country and home to a variety of tearooms, pubs and specialist shops. Other local attractions include walks on the Long Mynd, the Acton Scott Working Farm as seen on TV, and Stokesay Castle. The historic towns of Shrewsbury, Ludlow, the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, Much Wenlock and Bishops Castle are only a short journey away.

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

"Kite's Nest is a cosy, well equipped cottage. We found it to be very comfortable and in a lovely setting on the farm with peacocks, chickens and ducks visiting us daily. The cottage is in a very quiet rural location with walks available from the door step. The only downside for us was the very narrow roads from Church Stretton to the accommodation which we found a little too narrow for our liking. A beautiful area though and a really lovely little cottage."

"We stayed at this accommodation for a week recently. We found the 'cottage' to be well equipped and comfortably furnished. We enjoyed seeing the animals from the farm wandering around and had frequent visits from the chickens and cat. The accommodation is set in a rural area and is incredibly peaceful. The location of the cottage near Church Stretton is good and we found access easy to Ludlow, Shrewsbury, Much Wenlock and Ironbridge with some stunning walks located closeby. The only downside for us was that the road to the accommodation is very narrow with only a few passing points and this did put us off venturing out in the evening for meals. Overall though a very pleasant accommodation that was clean and comfortable and in a delightful setting."
