Jessamine Cottage in Church Stretton

Welcome to Jessamine Cottage. Little Stretton lies in the heart of the Shropshire Hills and nestles in Long Mynd's foothills.

Accommodation

Two bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x single. Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. Kitchen. Dining room with French windows leading to the pretty south-facing garden. Sitting room with woodburning stove. Conservatory.

Location

With 2 bedrooms, Jessamine Cottage offers idyllic accommodation for groups of 3 people. Exposed beams, a woodburning stove and a double bed provide the ideal ambience for that 'getting away from it all' experience at any time of year. For the summer months, the property has its own rear garden, from which you can enjoy a light bite and a glass of wine on a warm evening. There is off-road parking available for up to 2 cars, although the local shop and excellent local pub are less than 3 minutes' walk away.

Little Stretton is the starting point for a popular ramble up the beautiful and rugged Ashes Hollow, which takes you to the top of the Long Mynd. From the top of the Mynd, which is covered in purple heather in the summer, walkers can descend to the National Trust shop in Cardingmill Valley before returning via Church Stretton. Across the main valley, a stiff climb to the marker post on Ragleth Hill will lead you to a lovely walk along its high ridge and to a more gradual descent into Church Stretton. Little Stretton is also within easy reach of other attractions in Shropshire, such as historic Shrewsbury, the market-tow of Ludlow and the ancient spectacle of Stokesay Castle.

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

"Had a great week at Jessamine Cottage. It was an ideal location with great walks from the cottage and two lovely dog friendly pubs, one only 10 paces across the road. Ironbridge and Ludlow are a must to visit. Everything in the cottage is well presented and very comfortable. The small garden is lovely for sitting on an evening. A great part of Shropshire, a place we would definitely return."

"We had a fantastic holiday at Jessamine cottage, it was warm, welcoming and we felt so at home. It was ideally located in the village of Little Stretton, with excellent walking on the doorstep. Two lovely cosy pubs, one a minutes walk away and the other 4 minutes away, both accept dogs. We will definitely return."

"This two bedroom cottage is good enough to live in full time. Well equiped with dishwasher and washing machine and sky tv. Dog very friendly with secure front garden where you park car; there are gates. Main bedroom has double bed and second has adult bunk beds so if two couples go you will have to toss. There is I think a sofa bed in lounge. There is a separate dining room, a real plus. Best of all 40 yards away is Raglan Arms on of two pubs in village. But as round corner not noisy and it is a wonderful gastro pub. The cottage is a touch expensive but if you book you will see why. Area wonderfull with good walking and Ludlow nearby."

Two excellent pubs very close by serving delicious meals and great local beers. (One of the pubs is only a 40 second walk away!!) We really enjoyed our stay and had some lovely walks in the surrounding countryside. The locals are very friendly and welcoming. We will certainly return."

"The cottage is very well appointed, with a log burner for chilly evenings. The welcome pack was a bonus, as was the home made flapjack! There is loads of information in the cottage including walks from the village itself, as well as those locally. There is lots to see without driving far, such as Ludlow, Shrewsbury, Long Mynd, Much Wenlock and Bridgenorth. The two pubs in the village are good, with the Green Dragon serving very reasonably priced and excellent bar food. The conservatory porch was lovely on sunny afternoons, when it was still a bit chilly outside. Would definitely go back."
