Reviews of Bastle House

"I stayed at the cottage over New Year with my husband, two children and in-laws. Adam was very welcoming and showed us around the cottage before leaving us with the keys. We were left a welcome gift of a magnum of prosecco, a cake and 4 pints of milk, it was very well received. The cottage was lovely and homely with plenty of room. The Christmas tree was a lovely touch. The location was perfect with Sainsbury's within walking distance and a few pubs a stone's throw away. The Black Bull was very welcoming and cosy. They allowed children and dogs. We also had a nice meal on New year's day at the Centre of Britain hotel. We visited Housestead Roman fort which was less than 30 minutes drive. I would highly recommend this cottage and would consider returning. "

"Lovely cottage. It lives up to the photos and had all sorts of little extra things which made our stay comfortable. Its handy for shops and takeaways. Lots of open space nearby too for dog-walking as well as the lovely countryside to explore. There were 3 of us but the space would be still be generous for six."

"We've just come back from staying 2 nights at beautiful 16th/17th Century Bastle House. The photos on the Web page don't do it justice. Log fire, comfortable beds, excellent kitchen that had everything! Sainsburys directly over the road. Shops, pubs and takeaways right on your doorstep. We ate in The Black Bull the first night, delicious, and took an Indian takeaway back to the cottage the second. Watching the sun come up over the hills every morning from our kitchen window was just perfect. We were able to leave the cars and hike up to Hadrians Wall. There were 5 of us and we can't wait to go back. "
