Reviews of Freestone House

"The house itself is very spacious and in the main well kept. It is in the beautiful village of Ashby St. Ledgers. Upon our arrival the owner had just finished cleaning the property. On the positive side the bedrooms are all very nice although in one of the rooms the bed only had 3 legs and sagged on one side. I thought this could have been relatively easily repaired. The main upstairs bedroom was beautiful but it had a open toilet and shower (which was full of mould) so if you're particular about who sees you you may want to use the small downstairs loo. On the negative side, upon our arrival the fridge was filthy and we spent 2 hours cleaning it. The oven was also very dirty and needed some time spending on it to clean it properly. The kitchen floor needed a good mopping as well. The owners advertise a gas barbecue and patio heater. There is no gas barbecue just a barrel type with lid. This works perfectly fine but means you have to travel the 3 miles into Daventry to get coals etc. The patio heater did not work. The guest information was quite scant and left you wanting more information. There is plenty of information though about the surrounding area. Overall, a beautiful property but as I say with a few easily sorted problems."

"We stayed in this property for our annual girlie weekend away and were extremely disappointed that we had NO hot water or heating when we arrived ! The owners had not refilled the oil tank! We had plumbers there both days to try and fix the problem which was an intrusion and inconvenience , the problem was not fixed . Inspite of being provided with 2 heaters we were still cold and had to have freezing showers. We were offered very little compensation which was extremely disappointing ! We have stayed in many properties over the years but have never encountered this . We will not be returning to Freestone house ."

"We had the privilege of staying in this beautiful house in a courtyard close in Ashby St Ledgers. This property is pretty and full of charm from the outside in. It was a home from Home and we all had a great time staying here. The living room is very comfortable and cosy with the real log fire which we had lit every evening. "
