Location

Sweeps Cottage is a deceptively spacious, stone-built mid-terrace, in a quiet courtyard setting less than a minute's walk from Skipton's high street. With three bedrooms, a king-size double, a double and a single, it sleeps five people comfortably. There is also a bathroom, a sitting room with dining area and a kitchen. Outside, there is a a small patio area, perfect for sitting out with a cold drink after a busy day exploring, and also off road parking for one car. Sweeps Cottage is a fantastic base for a Yorkshire Dales break.

Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales have to offer. This market town boasts an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. Enjoy a canal trip on a traditional barge or visit Embsay Steam Railway, which has regular steam train excursions at the weekend and is only 1 mile away.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Reviews of Sweeps Cottage

"This must be one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in. It was spotless. Convenient for the town and eating places no need to use the car. One thing that would be handy, an airer to put any washing on outside. I would certainly recommend this cottage. "

"This is a lovely cottage in a quiet, peaceful turning, yet in the centre of Skipton. Turn right out of the front door and within a minute you are in the high street, turn left and at the end of the lane is the canal.....a perfect location. The cottage itself is spotlessly clean and is equipped with everything you could need, including free Wi-Fi, a good collection of books and DVDs, a welcome pack on arrival and under floor heating in the bathroom (not that we needed it in August!!). There is only one parking space, but there is a large car park just over the other side of the canal if you have more than one car. I cant find fault with this cottage, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already planning our next visit!"

"I booked this cottage based on the reviews and affordable price One parking space so if you have 2 cars you'll have to park one elsewhere. The cottage is modern and warm. The kitchen is fully equipped - no pizza cutter though - and is of a modern design. You can dine at the kitchen table or a larger dining table in the living room. The heating control is in the living room with instructions in a folder. The beds are so comfortable I had trouble getting up in the morning - warm and excellent mattresses. The bedroom I had at the back of the house didn't have any electric sockets next to the mirror. So to dry my hair I had to go into the single bedroom which had sockets beside a mirror. When you leave the house turn right at the front door and follow the path right along to the Main St. Turning left still takes you there but a longer walk. I wouldn't recommend this house for anyone with mobility issues or the elderly. The path in front of the house is cobbled and uneven in both directions. The stairs to the bathroom and bedrooms is steep and accessed by a high step from the kitchen. There are handrails but it could be an issue especially as the only bathroom is upstairs."

The neighbours were very friendly and it was incredibly quite given the cottage's close proximity to the main street - 1 minute walk. I'm sure that we will stay in Skipton again in the future and if Sweeps Cottage is still available there will be no question about where we will be staying."

"Fantastic location and a really nice cottage , we loved every minute there . The high street with all the pubs , shops and restaurants is a two minute walk one way and the canal towpath walks are two minutes the other way. The cottage has been tastefully and sympatheticly renovated to a high standard . It's fully equipped with everything you could need for your stay and even had some milk , coffee and biscuits waiting for us when we arrived . We will definitely be staying there again soon"

Somewhere to park the car swung it for us when booking but the entire holiday was wonderful."

"We had a fabulous week at Sweeps Cottage. It's location is perfect, so close to all the lovely eateries and shops, yet very quiet. The property was spotless and well furnished. Skipton was very friendly and we loved the variety of shops - it's really niche that there aren't too many high street shops there, lots of local traders. We enjoyed days out in the dales and Harrogate, as well as some walks straight from the doorstep (the main reason for our booking was the amazing Yarndale!). We'll definitely be back!"

"This is a wonderfully sympathetically restored cottage with high quality fittings and furniture. It is centrally located between the town and the canal. We would highly recommend it as a base to discover the wonderful scenery and places in and around Skipton. There are only two negatives, one that is easily solved and that it can only accommodate one car and the other can be parked nearby but its best to buy a weekly ticket. The other negative which should be provided is Wi-fi whch given the wonderful review just given - is inexplicable, This was a real problem resulting in visits to coffee shops which in this modern age is totally unnecessary. The access to the bedroom is difficult and would not be suitable for older people or someone with a disability. Anne's 81 year old mother really struggled with the stairs but that is just the design of the cottage (although a door assist of some sort would good as once open you could not get out the back door). However it was not something that is easily solved as its part of the design of this old cottage."
