Historically part of Yorkshire, following boundary changes in the 1970s, the village now straddles two counties, with the Eastern part of the village in Yorkshire, and the Western part in Lancashire! The village is home to a local pub, a church and a community centre. A wonderful base for a family holiday exploring the delights of Yorkshire and Lancashire.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

"We stayed here for a week. Paul met us on arrival and was extremely helpful and friendly. The lodge has lots of character which is exactly what we were looking for. The lodge is on a large piece of land which guests are free to use which kids loved. Word of advice for anyone planning to take push bikes, there seem to be two adverts for this lodge on TripAdvisor. One of the adverts state that there is bike storage and additional locked storage. Due to this we took the kids bikes on the assumption we could store them in outdoor storage. We were advised however that the outdoor storage contains chemicals therefore is not available for guests to use. This wasn't a huge issue for us as the kids bikes are relatively inexpensive so we just left them out on the decking area however had my wife and I taken our bikes that would have been an issue. Would definitely recommend this lodge. We really enjoyed our stay."

"Liked the peace and tranquillity. It was everything as it was advertised and everything we were looking for. The hot tub was lovely and made more so that you could share it with just the birds, the bees, the odd owl and a few sheep. A great holiday, and a great holiday away from the rat race."
