Reviews of Bookilber Barn

"A beautifully house in a stunning location. This was a family holiday with three generations. House was very large and decor was interesting. Comfortable seating areas where you could find peace and quiet. Hot tub large in a separate barn type building away from the elements. We unfortunately chose a poor week for weather but we made use of the lovely walks around the house and the sheltered hot tub. Bats flew around our heads at dusk and owls were definitely in the fields around us. A nature lovers dream. All had a brilliant time there, can't ignore the 2 mile pot hole track to get there but a small niggle considering. Didn't want to leave."

"Family gathering prompted this reservation and what a fantastic find it was! Located down a remote single track lane (2.2 mls) in the Dales, just outside Settle, it was a beautiful, quiet, remote spot. Lusciously and tastefully decorated throughout and hugely well equipped with copious space for a family gathering. Homely feeling with space for separate areas when needed! Brilliant range of equipment and mod con's. Trips and long walks during the day complemented by time in the hot tub in the evenings - sheer joy. A week filled with happy memories and long views across the Dales which change with the weather. Easy and responsive contact with the administrators made every aspect a pleasure. Will be recommending to friends!!"

"This barn has the wow factor as soon as you drive through the gate. The house is beautiful as are the gardens and views that surround it. We entered the property to be greeted with fresh fruit, a bottle of bubbles and a very cute cuddly dog that was ours to take. The rooms are modern, stylish and in some areas extravagant but this is exactly want we wanted, a weekend of luxury. The hot tub is an added extra and was used everyday. I would recommend this place to anyone, friends, family, young and old. You do need to get over the rough track that leads up to the house but to be honest this just caused many giggles. You can't see another property and every view is of green fields and the local farm animals. You would need to do your own shop as I doubt you would find anyone to deliver but I could be wrong, but once you arrive you really won't want to leave. Communication throughout the booking was smooth and we were given very clear instructions. We also needed to make contact during our stay and we received a text message back straight away. We are a group of friends celebrating our 40th birthdays and now want to make it an annual trip."

"I have just returned from Bookiler Barn with a group of 11 friends to celebrate my birthday. It was absolutely amazing. The barn is immaculate and has some gorgeous furnishings. A massive lounge and dining table to accommodate us all and it's so peaceful. We had a fabulous time in the hot tub which is in the barn opposite the house and had room for those who don't want to go in to sit together. A lovely welcome pack as well. Haven't stayed anywhere as beautiful for a long time. Would definitely return. Only thing to be ready for is the long lane to get to it! "

"Having stayed in the sister property Flat House Barn which was amazing in the dales I booked the larger sleep 12 Bookilber Barn for my 60th birthday celebrations. Disappointment started on arrival. We emptied the cars after an interesting drive to the barn down what is best described as a single track. We opened bubbly and reached for the champagne flutes only to find them dirty. We had to wash them before we could use them. We pushed through the shock and sat in the large lounge. Under the table was thick with dust including a previous occupants hair bobble! There was thick dust and hair on the wooden staircase to our bedroom. We ate and went to stack the dishwasher. It's broken. The bottom tray had lost wheels making it difficult and dangerous to use. One of the plate racks was also missing. Not a good start to our 5 star luxury break. Not a patch on the earlier experience at Flatt House property. The BBQ hadn't been cleaned since its last use ashes etc. Previous occupants had used candle holders as ash trays round the hot tub and no one had cleaned this up. I advised the rental company who did email me back their disappointment and surprise and organised for a plumber to check the dishwasher (which he confirmed will need at least a replacement bottom rack). We had a side issue to check out the hot tub which they also organised for their service provider to check (was found to be ok) Later we found a hen party balloon in on if the bedrooms and found the vacuum cleaner absolutely solid full of carpet dirt. One guest came late into the week and the single bed she used was broken! The slats not only came out several of the fittings were missing. I sent two further emails to Bossdean property about these latest findings to help them but never received a reply. Think they had had enough of me. No offer of a refund partial or otherwise just a defensive explanation from their point of view. The place has lots of room. It is in the middle of nowhere. Very easy to relax and recharge. I can see the potential. Just needs to get on top of repairs and cleaning to truly reflect 5 star luxury. This is not a cheap option it's a luxury item. On my experience I will never go back. Hopefully my feedback will be acted upon and future visitors will find things in order. If you give it a try Enjoy!"

"What an amazing place. I booked the barn for my bestfriends hen party. The barn did not disappoint. It was fabulous inside. All the detail make is all that more amazing. On entering the barn we were hit by the smell of scented candles, a bottle of sparkiling wine and a bowl of fruit. Its the little things that count. The place is stunning. The road to access the barn is a bit bumpy but just drive slowly and I guarantee the barn is worth it."

"We were part of a group of adult Anglo / American couples that spent a week at the Bookilber Barn. The property is accessed by a two mile bumpy, gravel lane through open fields with not another property in sight. This caused us to question if we were on the right route even though the directions warned us about the access lane. Then all of a sudden this wonderful stone barn appears. It looks nice from the outside. When you step inside you find that you have entered into the world of an imaginative interior designer. The Bookilber Barn is a first class set up. Everything is top drawer. One fact you need to be aware of is that only four of the six bedrooms are suitable for adult couples. This fact was made clear on the owner's web-site but it was not clear on the Sykes Cottages web-site at the time of our booking."

"Bookilber Barn is a stunning combination between a classic old structure which has been exceptionally well restored, then fitted out with top of the line appliances together with grand stylish furnishings. All this in a remote location accessed by a rocky, bumpy two mile long gravel road. These factors combined result in a unique property that provides a wonderful place to enjoy the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales. It doesn't get much better than this combination."

"This was a perfect holiday let for large groups. All bedrooms are of a good size or Enormous in some cases and the downstairs living space was lovely and also large. The large hot tub was especially welcome as we had a wet weekend and didn't venture out too much. The decor of the place is amazing and obviously professionally done and with no expense spared. The whole place has a very luxurious feel about it. The only downside was the 2 mile potholed farm track to the property, but that became an adventure in itself. Emma from Bossdean was very helpful and informative and we were greeted with 2 bottles of bubbly - Bonus !! Would highly recommend it"
