Reviews of Beech House

"Placed perfectly in The Yorkshire Dales for access to some beautiful walks and mountain climbs, which is one of the reasons we chose this cottage. The village itself has pretty much what you need, two pubs, a cafe, and a co-op, all within walking distance. We preferred the Masons Arms, friendly atmosphere and good food at reasonable prices. The property itself is finished to a high spec with good quality fittings and lovely decor. The flowers, wine and milk were a nice touch. The kitchen has ample space and fairly well equipped with all you need to cater at home with a dining table that seats 6, however as mentioned by other reviews the front living room is somewhat cosy, but still does the job. There is a parking space for one car on the drive plus road parking for any additional cars. Our niggles were as follows, yes there are 2 bathrooms, and yes a shower in both and a bath in the other, however, what we didn't realise that the bath was so small you can at best fit a small child in it, no way can an adult use it unless you want your knees up under your chin, there is a shower attachment, but if you have a shower also, I don't see the point. In addition, the showers did not get hot, warm yes, but not hot. When you've been out walking for long periods of time it's nice to know you can come back to a hot shower or a soak in the bath, neither of which you can do at this property. The owner did adjust the boiler but it didn't make any difference. In addition there was no wifi all week, not the end of the world, it seems this has been a problem previously too, so if you are reliant on it then it's best to check before you go. In summary, a lovely cottage, well placed and high quality decor. Just a shame about the bath/shower scenario, and this is the reason we wouldn't return, but worth a try for others."

"We recently spent a week in this wonderful holiday accommodation, a party of 4 adults plus dog. Beech House is ideally situated in the village of Gargrave and is a short walk from the beautiful Liverpool to Leeds canal. A little further on you are in the pretty village with pubs, a restaurant, tea room, co-op and other small shops and Skipton is just a few miles up the road. Beech House is superb accommodation forming one wing of the main house. The property has modern furnishings all with great style and quality and tastefully set within the context of a seemingly traditional stone house. The property was spotlessly clean with a very well equipped and stunning kitchen, a cosy dining area with log burning stove, warm underfloor heating which the dog appreciated, very comfortable and well equipped bedrooms and beautiful bathrooms. Plus cosy sitting room with TV, downstairs loo, front porch idea for dog drying and patio with furniture, we even managed coffee on the patio one sunny morning. Beech House was perfect accommodation for us and in a area ideal for enjoying the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. We felt we'd found a real gem, definitely 5 Star!"

"We were 4 elderly school friends walking the Airedale Way from Leeds to Malham Tarn. Returning to Beech House each evening, we could relax in this comfortable extension to the owners' property with everything that we needed provided. The kind owners were on hand if we had a query, otherwise we were totally self-contained and private. All in all, a fabulous holiday with wonderful scenery, good weather, and a well maintained and equipped "cottage.""

"A real find, this cottage was furnished and decorated to a high standard. Plus points were the underfloor heating and a gorgeous kitchen fully stocked with everything needed for a stay there. In nicer weather lovely patio furniture that we did not use in December! Bathrooms modern with power showers. Pet friendly too! The lounge was small and you would struggle to seat 6 people comfortably and for us the beds as Kings were also on the small side (we are used to 6ft beds as we are both tall). Phil the owner was very welcoming and we will definitely stay again. The property is a short walk from the town through poorly lit streets so take a torch if you are going out in the dark!"
