Reviews of Orcaber Cottage

"We stayed as a family if 4 plus our pet dog for a week. This was a perfect place to stay as a base to visit the southern part of the Yorkshire Dales, including Ingleton & Skipton. The cottage was everything we could ask for; warm, clean & homely. We look forward to staying again. "

"We stayed here for my brothers 30th birthday for a long weekend. 6 adults & 1 dog, some lovely little touches on arrival, some spare dog towels & a pint of milk in the fridge. Lovely cottage which has been decorated with a farm house style. Waking up to a view of the fields & mountains around was perfect. The cottage is in a good location, it took us around 25mins to walk to the pub which is friendly & welcomes dogs. Across from the cottage there is also an on site dog walk. I would go again & would recommend "

"About a mile walk into Austwick it self. A pretty village but nothing much going on there. The pub The Game Cock Inn Is a very friendly place both customers and staff alike. The food served there is good, however although my Sunday Roast was okay, I would probably go for something else next time. The Cottage itself is immaculate. It certainly has had someone with good taste buying the accessories, towels etc. It has been furnished to a very high standard. Kitchen units, doors, everything has been done with taste. I would have no hesitation recommending this cottage, its beautiful. The centre seat of the settee is uncomfortable as some of the springs have broke, but maybe the owner isn't unaware of this. If I had seen them this morning I would have mentioned it as it just doesn't go with the rest. We had two dogs with us and the owners have created a dog walk area which was great to walk them first thing in a morning. Having now stayed there I would say the only thing for me was the lack of a closed off garden. You were unable just to let them out as obviously there are other dogs, horses and riders and cars going back and forth and the area is dangerous for everyone. To have been able just to have opened the door and let them go in your own closed in garden would have been fantastic. It is, after all, a working farm. If you have an obedient dog, it may work for you. That is the only reason I have marked it down. As most of the Yorkshire Dales some beautiful walking area's all either a short drive away or from your own doorstep. I would more then likely recommend this immaculate cottage with its beautiful log fire."

"Brilliant. Beautiful barn/farm house conversion into a lovely and modern holiday let. Our friends rented the cottage and invited us along for the weekend and we were not disappointed. The log burner meant that we were nice and toasty as it was quite frosty outside. The fixtures and fittings were of a high standard and the owners of the farm were very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend."

"We particularly liked the surprising friendliness and warmth of the Yorkshire folks, only improved by the owners. Our children were happy with stroking the horses, dangling their feet over the footbridge over the Beck, racing on their bikes with perfect safety on the track within the farm. The hens were friendly too and so was the black cat and the dogs. An authentic old farm with the very best 5* conversion within. Please, please thank them on our behalf. "

"My wife, three children (8,7,1) and our dog stayed here for a week during the Easter holidays. We were welcomed by the hosts with a roaring fire and flowers which was most welcome after our 6 hour journey in the car. The cottage is beautiful - particularly the bathrooms and bedrooms which are to a very high standard. It's in a great part of N Yorks and there was plenty nearby to occupy us during the week (Ingleton falls, steam railway at Embsay, Bolton Abbey). A really great week and we would definitely book again."

The views were incredible and it was a great base for Lake Windermere and for beautiful walks. We had 2 dogs and they loved the garden. We enjoyed it so much that we asked to stay longer but unfortunately it was booked. We will be booking again for next year!"
