Reviews of Stable Cottage

"Kington itself has pubs, takeaways and shops for every needs. A friendly place, easy to relax. Local towns of Leominster, Hay on Wye & Hereford have many attractions. The cottage is well positioned and the proprietor, Mr Thompson is very helpful, and a pleasure to deal with. Our dogs were also very comfortable in the cottage."

"we stayed here for a week very recently. we were met by Malcolm the owner who gave us a really nice welcome.and the welcome pack on arrival is very much appreciated. full of things you might need immediately.and even treats for the dog. the cottage its self is in a great location. and full of character. roomy and so very well equipped. the best we have been to. we did not have to buy supplies ie washing up liquid. ect. and good instructions for everything can literally walk two mins and you are in Kington. where there is plenty of shops pubs and an array of eating places. there is also a big park for walking the dog a visit to. the museum is worth a look to. and if you want to venture further a field there are loads of leaflets for you to look through . Hereford is definitely worth a visit and hay on wye and ross on wye.i would like to thank Malcolm and his wife for a lovely stay here and look forward to coming back again in the future. "We stayed here for a week in late February/early March and found the cottage enchanting. The owners are thoughtful, helpful people; we were greeted and shown how to access the property ( a VERY narrow road!) and shown round. We were also provided with bread, milk, apple juice, tea, sugar and even treats for our dog! Stable cottage is well equipped, technologically , with wifi, a smart TV with freeview, and a DVD player. The whole place was spotlessly clean and well furnished. The sitting room was cosy, with a great gas 'solid fuel' stove, adding to the background heat provided by the central heating. The courtyard garden is small, but adequate, and we are sure in warmer weather it would be lovely to sit in. The fact that the cottage is less than a minute from Kington high street is a bonus. There are lovely shops including no less than two butchers, a green grocers, a grocers, a big coop supermarket, plus many lovely pubs and cafes- special mention to Border Bean and their gorgeous cakes! We plan to return some time soon, as we haven't had the chance to properly explore the beautiful surroundings yet, and would thoroughly recommend the cottage to couples or families."

"We had a great week in Stable Cottage. It is perfectly located in the centre of Kington, yet nicely tucked away up a lane with a high wall preventing doggy disappearances and giving lots of privacy. This characterful cottage is tastefully decorated, very well-equipped, and apart from a human welcome pack of fruit juice and home-made marmalade, the owners even provided a packet of doggy treats. Usually when we visit a cottage we have to remember to buy stuff like foil and washing up liquid and liquid soap but everything was there. The big bed was super comfortable and bathroom was stylish although when showering it was difficult to keep the water in the bath as no shower curtain (and bathroom blind had to be kept down as large window didn't have obscure glass. There were a couple of minor points that could make things even better - a couple of hooks for outside coats by the door, maybe a DVD player for nights at home, a blackout blind for the big bedroom, an outside bench for the lovely little courtyard - but there are so many positives and Kington is such a great place to stay, being packed full of lovely old-fashioned shops and cafes and pubs. We loved the local Arrow beer in the Wine Vaults and you should definitely enjoy Pie and Ale Night on Wednesday in the Oxford Arms. And the wonderful preserved interior of the Olde Tavern - we do love a traditional pub and Kington had plenty. We had a super-relaxing time and would love to visit again sometime and would definitely choose to stay in this lovely cottage."

"A comfortable cottage that had the right amount of everything. There was no unnecessary clutter or excess of kitchen utensils. Plenty of hot water. There was a recreation ground at the edge of town perfect to give our dog a morning and evening walk. WIFI is always good to have and there was good mobile phone signal. We had a friendly relaxed welcome by the owner on arrival. We had amazing weather and came back with a sun tan!"

"A quaint, beamed cottage close to the main street in Kington but, because of the enclosed courtyard, very quiet and peaceful. Very well appointed, clean and tidy. Well equipped kitchen, spacious dining area, cosy sitting room with a gas fire which makes it lovely and warm even on a chilly March evening! Two bedrooms and a good sized bathroom with a great free standing bath. The owner was very friendly and helpful and extra touches like teabags and milk, and a vase of daffodils on the kitchen windowsill made it special."
