Reviews of Nibletts Patch Cottage

"The cottages was unclean - the carpets quite clearly had not been hoovered and were covered in dog hair. The tiled floor was sticky. There were cobwebs round the ceilings. The bathroom was caked in dust and there was black mould in the shower that we easily removed with boiling water. The couch was well worn and uncomfortable it smelt of damp. Having pulled it away from the wall both the wall and floor was covered in black mould spores. We bleached the tile floor and left the couch forward to allow air to dry the wall. The dust and mould had been there for months. The bed was the final straw - the mattress was so uncomfortable as the springs stick in your back. We actually had to ask for a hoover from the owners to make the place feel a little more habitable - it was an uncomfortable situation as the owners lived next door. We didn't expect to be cleaning the cottage just to be able to stay there. The facilities are basic. The only positive side is that the cottage is situated well for touring the area. It ruined what should have been a birthday celebration and recuperation following a serious illness. Review wise this is a 2 star cottage. Hope you read this as Sykes Cottages do not like publishing reviews from genuine customers."

"The cottage was lovely: a great price for what was on offer in pleasant grounds and run by very relaxed, friendly people, who were also careful to give us our own space! We had a very small child and a dog and were made to feel very comfortable. The bed was comfy, the shower nice and hot and the cottage was just a few minutes walking away from the start of the Forest (of Dean) itself, which was perfect! We saw boar tracks everywhere and in terms of the Forest of Dean, well, what a beautiful and cosey part of the world. A terrific little holiday in a lovely place."

We had a very warm welcome from the owners who were very informative about the Cottage and area, but they were not intrusive. The Cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. The terrace was enclosed, ideal for our dog and a sunny spot to sit. One week was not enough to enjoy this area, would love to return."
