Reviews of Betty's

"Betty's Cottage, East Hoathly is based down the end of a lane. Beautiful countryside surrounds the house. Its a wonderful place to unwind and immerse yourself in the birdsong if you so wish. The house is very well equipped; with comfy beds, easy chairs and a conservatory to settle down in whilst supping a coffee/Tea and wine. The house has plenty of space in it but its the mature garden that [ in my mind anyway] we thoroughly enjoyed. . I'd recommend staying here for either couples or those with children as there are board games and jigsaws aplenty plus plenty of leaflets about places to visit. The Post office /cafe and the pub are 5 minutes' walk. . Great to experience local produce etc. National Trust houses and gardens are only short journeys away; Batemans House, Rudyard Kiplings home. Sissinghurst ,Harald & Vita Sackville West home plus Great Dixter, the home of Christopher Lloyd ."

"We met up with parents and stayed for two nights in this nostalgic cottage. It's roaring fire and homeliness helped make for a very enjoyable stay. In many ways, this is an idyllic location; you throw open the curtains on a morning to behold the stunning views of an equestrian centre. This was certainly a pleasant surprise - and it's little surprises like this that help recommend this cottage to those who want a quiet, picturesque escape from the pace of bothersome modern life Moreover, Betty's cottage is nestled at the end of a old, bumpy road in the beautiful village of East Hoathly. If you want rural - this is it! The village itself provides excellent provision for basic needs with a comprehensive post office, a pretty decent pub and other amenities including a coffee shop and hairdressers. I'm one of these who needs to de-tune and detach from the hustle and bustle of life. Even with two accompanying young daughters (sharing the same room) I slept soundly on a really comfortable double bed (with a single bunk for the youngest above me).. Put it like this: when she went for her usual for forage around the bedroom for missing "Blanky" at 3 o'clock in the morning, I wasn't disturbed in the least, such was the comfort I was experiencing: This is rare. Many thanks to the owners for providing the perfect pre-Christmas retreat; they really do think about attentions to detail."
