Reviews of Lundy View Cottage

"We stayed in Lundy View in mid October. A very comfortable little cottage, well equipped and with amazing views over the stunning countryside. Very peaceful and quiet as it lies down a long narrow lane so no noise from traffic or light pollution from street lighting We would love to return in the summer when the days are longer and hurricanes Ophelia and Brian are a distant memory.(not nearly as bad as forecast).! Ann and Phil are a lovely couple, Very helpful. We will definitely return."

"Higher Darracott Farm is a mile or so outside Torrington down a narrow Devon lane away from normal traffic and on a hill so there are great views from the cottage, amazingly including Lundy which isn't bad for a location a distance inland from the sea. The cottage is well designed and in good condition with the living room / kitchen upstairs and 2 bedrooms downstairs (for that view no doubt!). Plenty of space for 4 people with the main bedroom having an on-suite. Equipment was everything we needed for holiday use. There is a patio area outside with a table should the weather allow you outside for meals but of course you will need to carry everything downstairs first. Also the downside of the hill is a bit of wind. Overall, an excellent collage and friendly hosts."

"We had 9 enjoyable days here. The cottage was modern inside and outstandingly clean. We have been self-catering for over 20 years and this has to be one of the best, if not the best, we have stayed in. The location is good for visiting all of North Devon (Ilfracombe, Lynton, Lynmouth and Exmoor)."

"The "About This Property" above gives a true description of the accommodation, albeit with some duplication! "Lundy View Cottage" is a semi-detached barn conversion linked to "Hartland View Cottage" (Ref 11786), which is also available as a holiday let. However, the wall between the two properties appeared to be quite thick and no sound could be heard from our next door neighbours. Although the owners live on site in the main house they are not intrusive, but are always happy to help with local information. The reason for "no pets" is that about 20 free chickens roam around in the adjacent field and in the small farm yard adjacent to the front garden of the property. The front garden is fenced off from the chickens! It is well worth buying some of the eggs that these chickens lay, because they are extremely tasty. My wife and I, together with my wife's sister and husband, stayed in the property in mid March 2014. The property is very well maintained and can be thoroughly recommended. "Really lovely property, very comfortable and the view was great from the upper living area. Owners were obviously very proud of this accommodation and rightly so as they had put a lot of effort into accomplishing a nice quiet place to stay. It was also very interesting watching the rare breed chickens which kept up amused no end. Amenities at this property were good. Really well placed for reaching the best North Devon Resorts which have not changed a lot in 20 years."

"Travelling with my partner and our 6 year old daughter we always need space and something for everyone to help make our holiday and this did cottage *not* disappoint. After a very warm welcome from owners Ann and Phil. The cottage has everything you could want, well equipped to high standard, comfortable furnishings and master bedroom was on suite allowing daughter to have her own bathroom! Situated 5 minutes drive from market town of Torrington meant it had great views twoards Lundy as well as very peaceful nights sleep. When we did not want to cook then some very family friendly pubs (Hunters Inn, Cranford Inn) are but 10 minutes drive away. As a base to explore North Devon it was perfect we were no more than 30 minutes away from East and North covering some of the best that Devon had to offer (Clovelly, Combe Martin, Appledore - of which as a family we all loved!) and we did not have enough time to scratch the surface! Would recommend to the couple looking for a peaceful break or family of 4 looking to explore!"

"Myself, my partner and 5 year old had a great holiday at Lundy View. What a stunning place to stay and the cottage itself is extremly well appointed. However an unexpected surprise was the owners Ann and Phil who couldn't do enough to make our stay so good. They were always on hand to give information on anything from places to go, to good beer and cider, (both of which are essential in my book) and even took time to let Amy take charge of feeding the chickens and collecting the eggs on a daily basis. If only the weather had been a little better but there are so many things to do in the area, for all age groups, that we didn't have too much time worry about the rain at the time. Would we go back? Most definitely and would thoroughly recommend to anyone."
