Reviews of Elworthy Lodge

"A fantastic base to visit North Devon. The lodge has everything you need and is immaculately presented with a beautiful safe garden for dogs! The north coast is approximately 45 minutes drive away with fantastic views across the moors. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful leaving traditional devonshire scones and cream on our arrival! Can highly recommend Watersmeet Waterfalls (National Trust) near Lyton and Tor Steps for trips out. We would certainly recommend this accommodation to others."

The scenery from the windows is breathtaking. There is plenty to do in and around South Molton. We are all set to book visit number 4"

"A stunning location, views to die for and a peaceful retreat. Even though it is on a working farm there were no issues with this and all made us welcome. It was easy travel to a host of seaside towns, and even if the weather is bad, just sit and take in that huge skyscape from the lounge - wonderful. We will be back. Thank You."

"A fantastic lodge in a stunning location. The lodge had plenty of space for all of us and the dogs loved the secure garden. The lodge had everything we needed to enjoy our holiday. The farm has spectacular views and it was lovely to see newborn calves in the fields. Days out and about in north Devon were all within a 30 minute drive from the lodge, whether you wanted to go to Exmoor National Park or to the coastal beaches, everything was easily accessible from the location. Couldn't fault Elworthy Lodge in any way and we would definitely go back and recommend to our family and friends."

"Fantastic!!! This was our first stay at Elworthy Lodge but we will most definitely be returning. The lodge is beautiful and well equipped, plenty of space for 4 adults and 3 dogs. Perfect safe enclosed garden for the dogs to run around in without us having to watch them all the time. The farm dogs were lovely and friendly always popping to the gate to say hello and have a fuss. Had some lovely days out, everything is easily accessible within a 30-45 minute drive from the lodge. Just not enough time in a week to see and do everything. We will definitely be back to see more. Couldn't ask for a better base for our holiday. "

A lovely place to return to after a busy day out. Our 10 year olds love being able to go off and see the animals on the farm and watch the farmers getting on with their jobs. Whilst Wi-Fi available for the older ones! Good central place to stay for visiting local attractions and beaches. Looking forward to seeing Karen and bill again very soon"

"The Lodge itself is very spacious, well equipped and beautifully laid out. The location, just outside the town of Bishop's Nympton, is a lovely area with beautiful scenery. The view from the back garden is outstanding. Myself, my husband, our 2 small dogs and my parents all stayed in the Lodge very comfortably. Plenty of room for us all and plenty of wardrobe space, kitchen equipment and towels. The dogs loved having such a spacious garden to run around in and we loved the fact it was secure and we could keep an eye on them through the panoramic windows/doors without having to be outside with them the whole time. The owners were very welcoming and were available by phone at any time should we have needed them. The farm dogs were very friendly and enjoyed a good play/fuss every now and then. The Cream Tea and pint of milk that was left in the fridge to greet us upon our arrival was a very welcomed extra. Would absolutely recommend this Lodge and the area, just be prepared for tight twisty country lanes and lots of large spiders!!!"

"Perfect....no other way to describe it. We stayed at the lodge for Easter, Two teenagers, two 9yr old's and one dog and (4 surrogate dogs from the farm, i would have stolen Bert if i had the chance!!). The lodge was more that we expected, very spacious, very well equipped and very clean. The kids (especially 9yr old's) loved the farm, all the animals, tractor rides and covered in every kind of (muck) you can imagine. Karen and Bill are lovely, very helpful without being intrusive. Truth be known i think two of ours would have moved in if they could. A car is a must in order to get anywhere, but this does not detract from the lodge or surroundings,(WiFi for the teens saved all a little sanity, they even managed fresh air and walking!! OMG). Devon at it's best"

Karen soon put mesh across the bottom to stop our tiny dog escaping. The owners have 4 friendly dogs. The lodge is very clean and bright with all mod cons. There are plenty of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans. The beds are comfy and there is a tv on the wall in the master bedroom. There are 2 bathrooms and use of a secure dog run with dry kennel. On arrival there was a lovely cream tea in the fridge along with a pint of milk. we will definitely be going there again and have already recommended the lodge to family. "There is always the question, will the property be as good as the pictures? I can confirm it is better than the pictures. The set up of the property was excellent for the two of us and two dogs. There is more than enough room for 6 people, but for ourselves and the dogs, it was ideal. The property has an enclosed garden, a kennel area where the dogs can dry out and chill in their kennel if you want a day out. The attention to detail is excellent, no fault could be found. We were so impressed, we have booked again for next year and hopefully enjoy the patio space which looks out to an amazing view. Karen and Bill make excellent hosts and are available to assist or answer any questions you may have, and the complimentary scones on arrival were much appreciated. Good central spot to a beautiful location. I have already suggested this to friends and family."

The surrounding countryside was a joy to walk through with our 2 dogs, and a half hour car journey took you to the breathtaking beach at Woolacombe, nearly all of which is dog friendly. South Molton is a 5 minute car journey away which offered supermarket, shops, pubs & restaurants and anything else you might want.
