Location

The Old School is a delightful cottage, formerly the village school, and is next to the owner's home. The cottage is situated close to the Westmorland Showground, the village of Endmoor and is just four miles from Milnthorpe and can sleep four people. The cottage has a ground floor double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, a double bedroom, a ground floor bathroom, a kitchen with breakfast bar and a sitting room with a dining area and an electric fire. Outside there is off road parking for three cars, lockable bike storage and a lawned garden to the side with a patio area and furniture. The Old School is a lovely base for a restful holiday.

Once an important medieval market town, the settlement of Milnthorpe is located in the southern Lake District between Kendal and Carnforth. Just a few miles from the seaside village of Arnside, evidence of Milnthorpe's history can still be found amongst the narrow lanes and historic buildings, illustrating a time before the motor car. Set in lovely rolling countryside, the area also offers many great outdoor activities including the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis with its tropical hall and butterfly house. Dallam Tower and Levens Hall - both of which are historic stately homes with deer parks, topiary and ornamental gardens - provide a great day out for visitors. Other excellent attractions include Leighton Hall, Sizergh Castle, the Great Lakes Aquarium, Windermere and Grizedale Forest – all of which are located within easy reach.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Reviews of School Cottage

"A handy, comfortable place which has most facilities you need. We went as a family at Easter and it was very easy to find: just off the M6 motorway! It has nice decor and a couple whio tell you about the history of the place. I left a suggestion there that it could do with a washing machine and possibly a DVD player. Ideal for Lake District, Morcombe beach and Dales."

"The location was perfect, the house itself was brilliant we had everything we needed and we were very comfortable. We were very happy with the house, and the hosts were lovely. The house had a lovely feel to it and I would be interested to see what it used to look like as a school. 10/10, we would recommend! "

"The cottage was lovely and had everything we could have possibly needed and more! It was ideally situated for South Lakes and West Yorkshire. It was spotlessly clean and the owners made us feel very welcome. The photos on the website do not do it justice, it is much nicer than they show. We hope to return next year."

"We loved everything about the cottage. The situation is ideal as it is not only near the M6 but within easy driving distance of the lakes. It has the added bonus of being away from the crowds but near a couple of very good restaurants. Mr and Mrs Sanderson were marvellous hosts and went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect."
