Reviews of Lynher Cottage

"Thank you Gary and Felicia for a perfect break away. We had a lovely stay in a beautiful cottage overlooking fields if alpacas. This was a relaxing time for us and could not have been made more welcome. We could not have wished for a better stay and we will be returning."

"This cottage is, apart from the kitchen area, down at heel and in need of renovation. The Patio and hot tub are now overlooked by a new holiday cottage. My wife's review, to this effect, on Sykes' website was removed. This might explain the discrepancy between the up-beat reviews on their site and our experience."

The location is beautiful, there is so much to do in the local area and the alpacas really made the holiday something special. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We found the cottage to be clean and very well equipped, the views are beautiful and you get a real sense of privacy but with the owners nearby should you need anything. It is an ideal choice for a relaxing peaceful holiday and we would recommend Lynher cottage very highly. "

"Just spent a lovely week at this delightful cottage. It is set in a delightful location overlooking fields and rolling hills. In the adjoining field were 13 male Alpacas, which were a delight to watch. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable. The location is quite remote, the nearest village being about 1 mile away, so I think a car is essential. If you are a member of the National Trust there are a lot of properties nearby."

"A lovely cottage, clean and everything you could possibly need had been thought of. We were lucky enough to have had fantastic weather, but there were plenty and varied books, and DVD's should we have had inclement weather! There are lovely views, two terraces with table & chairs and a bench looking down the valley too. We really would highly recommend."

"Ideal cottage if you want complete peace and quiet. The owners are nearby in the farm house should you need anything but they are non intrusive. The patio to the cottage is private and overlooks the countryside. The cottage was very clean, well equipped and adequate for two people. I had to use the central heating in the cottage one evening and it is excellent, warming up the cottage in less than 30 minutes. The alpacas and other farm animals made this cottage different from others. If you are after something unique and a complete rest from everyday life then this is the place to come."

"The location of the cottage was fantastic - it was off a small lane in the middle of nowhere so it felt like a real retreat. It was also easy to get into the nearest village/town for supplies and only 20-30 mins to the coast and into Plymouth. We loved looking at the Alpacas daily and the owners were very kind in showing us around and introducing us to the different types of Alpacas. The cottage had everything we needed and was very cosy and warm."

"The cottage was bigger inside than it appeared in the photos, and was comfortable, cosy, and tastefully furnished and decorated. You could tell that a bit of thought had got into equipping it, especially the kitchen. There was a decent shower and a good supply of big fluffy towels. Everything was spotlessly clean, and very easy to keep that way with plenty of storage space to put away luggage and other travellers' clutter, and a good range of cleaning materials provided. The cottage is set in peaceful surroundings with very pleasant rural views, and the location is good with no need to travel far for supplies as there is a choice of shops nearby. We enjoyed our holiday very much, and would recommend it to anyone."

"The cottage is in a quiet and peaceful location, overlooking fields in which alpacas are grazing. It is located about a mile from the main road, but feels as though you are well away from towns and villages. The owners were very welcoming and helpful and the cottage was very well prepared for our needs. The outside patio area offered the opportunity of eating outside and a splendid gas fired barbecue was available for our use. Inside, the cottage was thoughtfully laid out and very comfortable. The kitchen area was very well equipped and all we required was available. We were very impressed with the way that all the cutlery, crockery and utensils matched and were of a high quality. Every effort had been made to make the environment as pleasant and welcoming as possible and the owners should be congratulated for the way in which they had set out the cottage. For entertainment, the TV and DVD player, together with a radio and CD player met all our requirements and there was a good selection of games and Dvds for our use. The cottage was very clean and well prepared for us, which gave a very good impression. In relation to heating, it was helpful to have oil filled electric radiators available as well as oil fired central heating if required. Although the cottage is close to the owners' house and shares access, it was very quiet and we were not disturbed by any of the farm activity. There was plenty of room for our car and we could get it close to the door for loading and unloading. We took the opportunity of meeting the alpacas and finding out about how they need to be looked after. It was fascinating having them in the field beside the cottage and a pleasure to watch them being fed in the morning. There were clear places where we could walk and the worker, looking after the animals, was full of enthusiasm and a pleasure to listen to. All we required was available locally and it was excellent centre for exploring East and South Cornwall."

The kitchen area is well equipped with cooker, fridge and microwave. Books, CDs and DVD are avaialable. The owners were away during our stay but had left a good local information sheet and loads of brochures. We did not see the owners but they provided a phone number if needed and their daughter came to check we were ok. There is a good park and ride service into York and we visited Casle Howard which is very close by."

"I stayed with my newly wedding husband at Lynher Cottage for our 2 week honeymoon. We required a fully furnished cottage with a large well equipped kitchen since my husband loves to cook. We also wanted a place that was peaceful and relaxing and Lynher Cottage was perfect for us. Although the weather didn't turn out great for us, we still enjoyed meeting the resident Alpacas at the cottage and enjoying informative conversations with the owners of the property. We were able to walk around the alpaca farm and visit Plymouth which is only 20 minutes away from the cottage. We also enjoyed local food products that were just down the road from us. I recommend this cottage for couples who need to get away to relax and enjoy the countryside and each others company."
