There is evidence of every period of history in just a small area of the city, and 21st century architecture sits alongside ancient Roman walls and an amphitheatre, medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed houses, handsome Georgian terraces, and Victorian restorations. The city is also renowned for its superb shopping in the famous 'Rows', and the picturesque walks to be discovered within the city boundaries and take a stroll along The Groves beside the River Dee, along the historic Roman Walls, or through the pretty Grosvenor Park. Venture out of Chester to discover the spectacular Welsh mountains and coastline, the golf courses of the nearby Wirral Peninsula, and the market towns and villages of Cheshire.

Reviews of The Blue Door

"This review is only for the owner, Tony and the Property itself. We may have booked through Sykes but after the initial booking online we had no cause to deal with them again. The Blue Door is only about a steady 10 minute walk from the historic city of Chester. The property itself is ultra modern and is presented to a high standard. We found it to be clean and had everything we needed for our stay. However, because of the high standard of restaurants in the area we mainly ate out. We visited, Chester Zoo, New Brighton for the championship crazy golf courses, Blackpool for the illuminations and Llandudno to ride the tram to the summit of the Orme. We had cause to advise Tony of a VERY minor maintenance issue (stiff windows openings) and within hours he came and sorted it for us. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again."

"Our second stay at the Blue Door, love this place! A very clean and well kept house, owner Tony is a super guy and only too pleased to try and help if you need anything. It's an easy walk of about five minutes into town or for a stroll along the ancient city walls. The Shropshire Union Canal is even closer, with some nice walks along the towpath. Chester Racecourse is also just minutes walk from the house. It's great to be able to leave the car parked on the driveway and just walk to all of the historic sites in Chester - or to the excellent shopping if that's more your thing! Within five munutes drive along the Sealand Road is a large retail park with many stores and supermarkets. We'll certainly be back to stay again."

"Stayed as a group of girls. The house was spotless and well equipped. 3 large double rooms easily accommodated 5 of us. Chester centre is a 5 min walk away and there is a very reasonable car park just around the corner. The property manager is very approachable if you need him and gave us some great advice on where to go and eat etc. A great stay, I would highly recommend!"

"The house was very clean and perfectly placed to go to Liverpool and very close to the centre of Chester, the canal and the wall around Chester .We were based 5 minutes from an extremely nice pub that served lovely meals, Telfords Warehouse. Coming from living in a bungalow it was good exercise going up and down the stairs! Chester was a really sweet place to visit and again a couple of nice pubs called The Pied Bull in the centre of Chester and The Cellar, 5 minutes from the station were also recommended for food and atmosphere. The surrounding countryside was very scenic and if you get the chance to go a little further a field Snugbury's ice cream parlour was an amazing taste explosion! All in all a very relaxing holiday and plenty of room for 4 adults."

"Having stayed a few times around the Chester area, at various other locations , and to varying degrees of satisfaction, this is by far and away the best we've been to . The location is superb , with short walks to all the interesting parts the city has to offer . Having young children, I was looking for something that would not only be well located but give us the comfort we would get in a quality hotel ....it didn't disappoint . Tony, the owner , was very welcoming and couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was what we wanted. The property itself is excellent , clean and spacious, as well as having every thing you would expect in a modern home. The kids felt like they were at home and were really sad to leave. We are hoping to visit the city in early summer and will make this our first choice..."

"The blue door is situated a 5 minute walk from the city centre and a 2 minute walk from the canal - for walking/running along. Its a stunning place to visit with lots of history. We spent a week here and genuinely did not want to come home! The house is beautiful and has everything you need. Its very comfortable and spacious. It was cleaned to a very high standard and decorated beautifully. The area is very quiet for being so close to the centre. There are so many restaurants close by you don't have to drive anywhere. We would love to visit again soon and recommend the blue door to anyone wishing to visit Chester."
