Location

Bittern Cottage is a lovely ground floor detached cottage situated in the village of Wicken just nine miles from Ely in Cambridgeshire. The cottage can sleep four people in two double bedrooms, one of which can be zip/link to a twin, together with family bathroom. Also in the cottage is a kitchen and a sitting room with dining area. Outside is ample off road parking and a private enclosed garden with furniture. Bittern Cottage is a lovely cottage in an excellent location for exploring this beautiful part of the country.

The land is mainly fenland and the river Cam runs through the area, making this a wonderful location for bird and wildlife. Wicken is home to one of Britain's oldest nature reserves, the first to be cared for by the National Trust. Visitors can enjoy wonderful wildlife, walking and cycling on fenland, farmland, marsh, and reed beds. For cyclist the Sustrans route 11 runs through the village all the way north towards Kings Lynn and south from Harlow.

"Hi just returned home from lovely 2 week holiday at Bittern Cottage, we all had a great time. Cottage is excellent ( home from home ) garden so peaceful and quiet, our dog spent most of his time outside. Owners Sarah and Graeme were both very kind and helpful. Wicken Fen is on the doorstep, lovely walks, Ely, Cambridge and St Ives are all worth visit. Lovely walk called The Three Churches worth doing, starting at Moulton ( Suffolk ) about 12 miles from Cottage Linda, Andy & Remus ( Newcastle upon Tyne ) July 2017"
