Reviews of West Lodge

"Worst cottage ever !!!!!!!!!! The upstairs heating gets way too hot and can not be set. The railing wobbles and almost breaks when you look at it. The ground gives way and one has the feeling that he breaks down soon. The upper bathroom can not be showered or the toilet can be used as the water comes only droplets. The mattresses are more than clean and here is a foreign word. In the lower bathroom there is no door in the shower accordingly, the whole floor is wet. If several people (3) take a shower, the water comes only in drops. When we came back to the cottage on the third day we had no electricity. The cottage was cold the fridge full of food that was not chilled. There was a note in the cottage about 2,000 pounds of debt related to the electricity. We immediately called the supervisor and he told us that we need to recharge the key ourselves at a gas station. He would have changed something on the power supply at short notice. On the question of who reimburses us the cost he said the website we have booked the cottage. Whether this will be so we see as unrealistic. We were not informed and we were not helped. How can you ask for so much money for such a garbage dump? We do not recommend anyone to book this cottage and are appalled about how we handle it. How can you enjoy such a holiday? We will take legal action so that no other tourists can happen !!!!!"

"Booked West Lodge 7th to 14th January 2017. Had a wonderful stay here with my wife and 3 friends. The cottage is very cosy and inviting; it was great coming back to it at the end of a cold day of exploring to light up the wood stove in the lounge and relax on the very comfortable sofas! The property is equipped with central heating and the aforementioned wood stove in the lounge, enabling you to achieve tropical temperatures if that's the way you like it. The layout of the cottage is difficult to understand from the pictures but the downstairs consists of a large lounge, a kitchen/diner off the lounge, a small shower room and toilet by the back door and double bedroom next to the kitchen in a small extension on the side of the property. The upstairs comprises a twin bedroom and single room with a small bathroom with bath and shower fitting with shower holder on the wall. The upstairs is quite cramped since it is in the loft of the cottage and if you are a very tall person this would probably be a big issue for you. However, our 3 friends who had the upstairs were perfectly happy up there. Overall the cottage was generally cleaned well, however there were a few spots which would have benefitted from a more thorough clean. For example, in most rooms there were cobwebs in corners and above the doors. The kitchen is fairly well equipped for a rental cottage, but we did find the oven struggled to reach a high temperature and there was a limited supply of pots and pans which did become a nuisance when cooking for 5 people. The cottage is located right next to the A82, a busy, major road. This was probably our biggest issue with the property since it could be very noisy in the morning. Also with regard to noise, there is a water pump located in the upstairs twin bedroom. Thanks to this pump you get fantastic water pressure from all the taps and especially the shower. The downside, however, is that the pump is quite noisy and the instant you touch any hot tap the pump kicks in and whines away. Not a huge problem, just a bit annoying. Despite the few minor issues, we had a fantastic stay here and wouldn't hesitate to book the property again. The price was great and correspondence with the owner was straightforward and helpful. All in all a lovely little spot with plenty of character and the perfect base to explore this stunning part of Scotland."

"The location of West Lodge was perfect for us as we tried to fit in as much as we could in the week we were there. The cottage was amazing and we loved every second of it. The log fire, Home cooked meals, games of cards and of course a glass of wine or two. It's a perfect get away. Couldn't of asked for more. "
