Roosters is a wonderful base for your romantic break in Shropshire.
Much Wenlock is an attractive, historic market town amid beautiful Shropshire countryside. Dating back over 700 years, a trip to Much Wenlock is reminiscent of stepping back in time, as you stroll the twisting streets, past the quaint cottages and timbered buildings, browsing the speciality shops or stopping in the traditional pubs and good restaurants. The remains of the 12th century priory retain a real sense of the grandeur of the original building. The area around Much Wenlock offers excellent walking, riding and cycling, not least along the wonderful Wenlock Edge, a 15 mile ridge which rises over the town and offers glorious views. Visit Ironbridge, Ludlow, Stokesay Castle or Acton Scott Working Farm.
A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
Reviews of Roosters
"Good sized stone built cottage suitable for four people so even better for just two of us! Very well equipped and comfortable. Great to be in the centre of town so close to shops and pubs etc. Just a short walk to the famous Priory too. We try to stay in a cottage at this time of the year and chose this because of its situation and closeness to other attractions. We are not disappointed. You can read about its amenities elsewhere but take it from us........it really is superb! "

"A lovely welcoming cottage for four adults and two dogs. Fresh flowers, brownies and dog biscuits on arrival, and plenty parking for two cars. Anyone over 6ft tall might struggle with headroom in the shower, but other than that, a real home-from-home in a beautiful part of the country. The cottage was very well equipped, with good quality facilities and utensils. Everywhere was spotless and comfortable, perfect for a relaxing weekend. George and Dragon became our new local, and The Fox served up a superb (and large) Sunday lunch for us meat-eaters and our vegetarian friends, nothing was too much trouble. Went to Tea Junction tea shop on our last day, not only dog friendly, but tasty food, friendly staff and good value for money (as was everywhere else). Much Wenlock is a traditional village, with lots of independent shops (closed on Sunday) but with a very good Spar and Nisa shop at the Shell garage. Hats off to the pharmacy who came up trumps when my husband realised he'd forgotten his meds, totally above and beyond. Our only regret was we didn't stay longer."

"The cottage was very comfortable and had everything you needed for your stay. Booking was simple and instructions were clear. On arrival, the owners provided the essentials such as milk, tea coffee and some tasty chocolate brownies. The cottage is in an excellent location for visiting attractions in the local area. The village of Much Wenlock also has a couple of restaurants and pubs. We would book this cottage again if we want to re-visit the area."

"We spent a lovely and most relaxing weekend at charming Roosters which is located in the picturesque village of Much Wenlock. Roosters is extremely well equipped, the ample parking is ideal as it is off road and therefore private. The property is extremely well looked after and comfortable with a cosy living room with the log burner ready for us to get going. We did and we just felt like enjoying the up to date DVDs collection and board games available. We were extremely grateful for all the walking maps available so we could get the dog going on his daily walks without having to do too much homework. As suggested, we went for an early dinner at the local pet friendly pub, the George and Dragon. We certainly would recommend this but pets are only allowed in the bar area so get there early as you cannot book a table."

I can't really find any fault and the location was brilliant. I would urge people not to completely book it up however, as I am looking forward to returning. I'll be back!"

"A very well-converted cottage in a lovely little town. Clean, comfortable and homely, with everything you could need. Comfy beds, and nice big bath towels provided. Set back from the road in a quiet courtyard. Pretty paved area for sitting outside, not overlooked by neighbours. Not really secure for dogs or small children however as there is no gate to stop them from running into the road if you are not keeping an eye on them! Bathroom rather small, and the bath with shower over was a bit difficult to negotiate for a taller person, with the slopping roof, and small sized bath. Lots of things to do nearby, and Much Wenlock itself a good town for independent shops, places to eat, and access to the surrounding countryside. Local people all very friendly!"
