The ancient village of Cowling sits across a hillside in the Pennine Hills, just seven miles from the market town of Skipton. A thriving village, built along a main high street with stone-built, terraced houses set alongside the mills of a bygone age. The village was once sparsely populated, the bulk of the population living in Ickornshaw and Middleton, and before that on Cowling Hill, close to water sources they depended on, and the main roads of the day - now used as back roads by locals to avoid the modern day traffic.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Reviews of Spiral Cottage

"Lovely, homely little cottage with all the comforts of home and more. Beautifully kept with pretty little touches to make you feel welcome throughout. We were met at the property by the owner, who showed us around. We had a great week, even though the weather wasn't the best but knowing that we could go back and relax in comfort was wonderful. "

"We spent a week at this cottage in June 2016. We were met by the owners who were very helpful and live locally. The property is very cosy and has an excellent wood burning stove if it is cold. The patio area overlooks a small beck and is opposite a duck farm which has provided a lot of fun following the young chicks running up and down. There is a well appointed kitchen with everything you might need and we have slept really well in the comfortable double bed. There are many walks locally and the cottage is very close to the Pennine way. The Settle Carlisle railway can be accessed from Skipton. There is stunning scenery all around and the Bronte' s home in Haworth is a short drive away. This is a great place to stay in this area."

"What a lovely cottage and setting. Everything was spotless and the flowers were lovely. It is in a great setting and if you like walking, you will find lots. We loved watching the ducks out the back. The local bus service was good, and there were nice places nearby to visit. One of the best cottages we have stayed in."
