The ancient village of Cowling sits across a hillside in the Pennine Hills, just seven miles from the market town of Skipton. A thriving village, built along a main high street with stone-built, terraced houses set alongside the mills of a bygone age. The village was once sparsely populated, the bulk of the population living in Ickornshaw and Middleton, and before that on Cowling Hill, close to water sources they depended on, and the main roads of the day - now used as back roads by locals to avoid the modern day traffic. In the early days, agriculture was the main occupation, with corn being grown and ground within the village. When canal transport boomed, corn became cheaper to buy from elsewhere and so the mills in Cowling turned from grinding corn to weaving during the Industrial Revolution. The village inn was once part of a farmhouse on Cowling Hill, but was sold as changes to the structure of the village began. The son of the landlord later opened the Bay Horse Hotel on the new road, which still stands as a main feature of village life.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

"This was family christmas get away to Pinnacle View and the house did not disappoint. The house is ideal for socialising with a big group due to the two large living spaces with ample seating and the hot tub was a perfect addition. The 4 seperate storeys of the house were ideal for us having small children as we put the children to bed on the top floor and then we would stay up and play games and have drinks on bottom floor and the children werent disturbed. There are plenty of days out for kids nearby we went on a Santa Train Experience on the Bolton Abbey Railway and to Stump Cross Caverns and Caves all within 30 minutues of the house.I would definatley stay at this house again. The owner is also very attentive and seems to have thought of eveeything you might need in the house during your stay."

"I just wanted to say thank you, your house is lovely and speaking on behalf of us all that came we really enjoyed being altogether under one fantastic roof. We pretty much spent most of our time in the downstairs lounge/ dining area when we were in the house but it was lovely to have a little escape lounge upstairs with the gorgeous views. Although we were in the area for a wedding, we did venture out to the local friendly pubs and a few went on a nice walk on the monday before leaving. We all absolutely loved the Cupcakes and Prosecco. It really made our arrival special and we would be sure to recommend the place to friends and family. Thank you Sharon!"

"Had the most gorgeous week at Pinnacle View. The house is beautiful and has everything you could possibly need for a week, and a whole heap of extra things that made it special(chilled prosecco on arrival for example) We had a great day out at Ingleton Falls, and would recommend Clip and Climb at Ilkley for children 6-12, although my 15 year old also enjoyed it. Ripley castle does a brilliant survival skills morning, or orienteering quiz/quest which the children loved. We had fun on my sons birthday at Billy Bobs, though worth booking in advance. Sharon, the owner couldn't be more accommodating and was really helpful when we were planning our trip, taking time to answer many questions and sent links to really useful sites."

"I stayed here to celebrate my 30th birthday along with 9 friends. The house was amazing and perfect for what we wanted. The communal spaces are great for eating, drinking and having a catch up! We were given the option of double or twin rooms and everything was set up as we requested when we arrived. The beds were so comfy and the bedrooms immaculate! The fabulous owner had left us a bottle of prosecco and a birthday cake to enjoy which was such a lovely touch! (She even offered to come and find us and help us out when we broke down a few miles away from the house!) The local area was lovely. Fantastic scenery and walks and We had a gorgeous afternoon tea at Luby's tea room (5 minute drive) and a spa day at the coniston hotel (25 minute drive) I feel this accommodation would also be great for families or groups with children, so I Am looking to book again next year for a family trip."

"Booked for a group of uni friends, 9 of us in total, one couple. Asked in advance for several double beds to be unziplinked into two singles and this was done, so everyone got their own bed with max 2 sharing a room. Maximum there are 8 separate beds with two doubles. Everyone got a big and small towel on their bed. Bathrooms on all but one of the four floors, plenty for our use. Two big communal spaces, both with big TVs, one we used for cooking and playing games, the other more cozy upstairs ones we used to watch movies and play games. Hot tub was sweeeet, with a floating food/drink tray and robes provided! Wifi available and allowed us to stream movies so no complaints there. :) The host was incredibly friendly and waited for us with the key (even though we were a bit late!). Detailed information pack on arrival with info of all local amenities. Convenient shop just a minute's walk away, and a larger coop supermarket about 6mins drive. The attention to detail was stellar. Little things pushed the experience over the edge into the "amazing" bracket. Free prosecco, wine and cupcakes. Matching fancy hand soap and moisturiser in every bathroom. Every room a consistent theme with curtains, bedding, cushions, etc. Highly, highly recommended! :D"

"I booked this accommodation for a relaxing weekend away for a friend's 60th birthday. We had a fantastic weekend. The owner of the property is very attentive and contributes to the personalisation of the event. The property is immaculately clean. The surrounding area is a beautiful location for any tranquil getaway and there are ample walks and the scenery is breathtaking. Nearby are well recommended restaurants, we acquainted the Italian 22 on The Square which did not disappoint, the coctail bar is a must. I would highly recommend this property."
