Location

Baywood Cottage is a charming cottage in the village of Cowling in the Yorkshire Dales. It has one bedroom with a luxurious super-king bed that can sleep two people, a large bathroom with walk-in shower and a spacious kitchen. Outside there is a gravel garden area with furniture and ample off-road parking. Baywood Cottage boasts both an idyllic location and a high-quality finish, making it an ideal base for a couple wanting to explore the Yorkshire Dales.

The village of Cowling sits in the Pennine Hills, just seven miles from the market town of Skipton. A thriving village, built along a main high street with stone-built, terraced houses set alongside the mills of a bygone age. The nearby Quaker village of Lothersdale was, at one time, home to Charlotte Bronte who modelled Gateshead Hall in Jane Eyre on Stone Gappe House where she was governess. Today many visitors passing through the village are walkers, on their way along the Pennine Way on the stretch from Cowling to Gargrave. There's the large retail outlet of Boundary Mills, just six miles away, a must for lovers of shoping, and Skipton, known as 'The Gateway to the Dales' is nearby. Skipton is a lovely old market town with much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Reviews of Baywood Cottage

"We've just returned from Baywood Cottage after a lovely relaxing week. The cottage is spacious, comfortable and spotless, and is equipped with everything you could need. The owners, Kath and Mark, are so friendly and helpful. It's in a fantastic spot, a bit higher up than Cowling itself, with beautiful views from every window. Kath's horses are outside your bedroom window, and there are fantastic sunsets to be seen from the lounge window. It's very peaceful - not a sound at night and lovely comfortable beds. You can also watch the wildlife - we saw a little owl and a hare. The Dog & Gun pub is about a mile away, with a great menu and reasonable prices. If you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing week, this is definitely it!"
